Miami Vice!

I liked Miami Vice back in the 80ies, but I don\'t think you could re-create the atmosphere of the series without making it seem dated. And... why Colin Farrell? ???

I agree with the Colin Farrel bit - someone please explain to me why he is in every other movie that is now made?

Not all remakes are bad. I think the new Battlestar Galactica holds its own against the old one, for example. Of course, I was only in elementary school when the first one came out, so my comparisons may not be valid.???

I think Michael Mann, the director, did some of the original shows as well....he should know the subject matter anyhow...

He did direct a great movie called MANHUNTER....it was made years before Silence of the Lambs and it is basically the same as the more current Red Dragon....very well done though....and you get to see a very cool version of Hannibal Lector.

Manhunter was great! I always wondered why the lead actor wasn\'t in more films, and then he showed up as Grissom in CSI. He owns that show.

Yes...although I never have watched CSI...I wondered the same about that guy...he was too good not to be in something.

Hmm Miami vice. Thats were they wore suit jackets with Tshirts. Some things should stay in the 80s. As for colin faryl well actors tend to do 5 or so movies then you never see them again. Is that a bad thing....

On behalf of the British Isles may I apologise most profoundly to the world for that particular export!

Hey! Colin Ferrel was very cool as Bullseye in the Daredevil movie!

As a side note...Miami Vice\'s \'wardrobe\' inspired lots of things...for instance when I attended my School\'s Prom, the Tuxedo colors were all based loosely on the \'influence\' of it.....

So thusly, my buddy and I wore \'pinkish\' (well Salmon colored) Tuxedos.....and no socks.

Ah, our glorious mullets, and our wonderful Miami Vice-ish tuxedos....Its a wonder we ever survived!

I was also a huge fan of this show. Mann did the shows and the movie. But it looks like he veered off from the original show. I think this one\'s gonna flop. The original fans will hate it because of Colin and the fact that it doesn\'t resemble the show at all. They didn\'t even re-mix the original theme song, which was awesome. All new stuff. More dark too. No Zito and Swaitek; no bug van. No Elvis the alligator. And they all wear socks. BS! People unfamiliar with the show may enjoy it; but who really wants to see more \"gritty, \"realistic\", cop drama\"? That\'s all that\'s on TV now. Or shows where lawyers are crusaders for justice and the cops are dirty. \"ripped from the headlines!\"

[cringe] I\'m with, Ogre Bane. some things should definately stay back in the 80\'s.

I always thought the best thing about that show was the music. I also always thought that CSI: Miami really strains to try and make itself capture the Miami Vice \"look\".

As for Colin Farrel: I think he\'s the absolutely perfect choice to reprise a role originally played by the talentless, vapid, annoying, waste-of-flesh Don Johnson. WHo better?

I can\'t watch a Colin Farrell movie now without seeing him as the gay Alexander. Such a horrible movie, made even worse by the fact that they constantly advertised his \"preference.\"

Woah, a fair bit of hostility towards Miami Vice it seems. Odd because I\'m looking forward to this more than any other film this year.

I mean it is a movie about Vice agents so deep into cover that the boundaries are blurred as to what side they are on, and it is made by the bloke responsible for truly quality films like Manhunter, Heat and the Insider. How can it be bad? Christ, I’m not the biggest Colin Farrel fan either, but somehow he makes a mullet and dodgey tash look cool here, so I’m reserving judgement until I’ve seen it.

Michael Mann has evolved since he produced the TV show and I’m really hoping that the film shows that evolution, so unlike Philogus I’m more than happy they have moved away from the show in many respects.

And on a geeky note, I love the way filming on digital has given it a sort of hybrid look – between reality TV and an HBO show - but way more classy. I think it’s gonna be awesome.
