Granddad!
Just getting back to the brushes after a quiet spell, may even see some sculpts too as the year progresses

first up Galadriel, which I just got in the recent ME23

She has a coat of gloss to protect the face while I started on the hair, everything will be matted down later, I did actually mean to do it before taking the pic, never mind, next time

And the Orc Warboss (Nob) from the Black Reach box

Galadriel's face is nice but you have to highlight it a bit and to shade the iris. You should also give the lips a redder colour. But I like the ork's face.

I like the hair of galadriel. Do you like to post your recipy?

But I think the face needs still some work. When your eyes are nomal open, you dont see so much of the iris... She looks like somebody who is scared...

The coat is finished?

The face of the ork is nice, but I think, that a little smoother blendings would be better.

Galadriels face looks nothing like that IRL, I think it's the Gloss varnish that's messed with the camera, I'll be sure everything is matted down before I take the next pic :rolleyes!:

In fact the only one that actually looks the same as IRL is the Ork body, could be the mattness of it, dunno

Shade the iris!, I could just about see it to paint it in the first place!! And that's with a 2x opti-visor on as well as my glasses!! :smile-big:

I'm quite happy with the way the head is going, I think the magnification is throwing things off a little bearing in mind the actual size is about as big as your thumb nail, (go on, put your thumb next to the Ork head and see.....all of you)

I'll have to go back and check the bottles but basically it's just a base coat at present, firstly I used VMC Dark Flesh as it has that yellowish look similar to GWs Bronzed Flesh, but it was too yellow for a base so I used one of the Ochre colors, I'll have to check which one it was though
The coat is still just black primer, again it's the gloss varnish messing with everything
yeah, the head needs some more glazes, didn't think there was enough contrast so went back with the yellow highlights, might have a play with some red glazes in there too

sorry guys, apologies for the bad pics, it's hard enough giving any C&C without the pics giving you false readings

aagghhhh! I think I've just realised why these pics are so bad, I zoomed in while in macro, well at least I hope that's the problem

And seeing as I spent nearly 2 hrs faffing around with her eyes the other night, I'll try some new pics tonight without zooming in and see how they come out

wish I had something on my tripod that could move the camera in towards the mini in the light tent, hmmm..... may have enough room to use the mini tripod and put the camera in the tent too :smile-big:

a great start to Galadriel mate, and im glad to see the old gal getting the attention she deserves :)

Your orks skin is looking fab too, looking forward to seeing these minis progress
