Micromark Liquid Mask?

Hey there ladies and gents, I hope all is well. I'm looking to add some battle damage to a space marine I'm working on, and I have some liquid mask medium I have yet to try. I've basecoated my model in a rust color and was hoping to mask a bit off and airbrush my actual basecoat color over top.

I'm assuming that's what this particular product was designed for, but I'm not entirely sure. Have any of you used Micromark Liquid Mask and have any pointers? Or any tips for liquid masking in general?

Thank you so much in advance for your insights.

Haven't tried Micromark but have used Humbrol Maskol and W&N. After your rust colour, stipple on a lighter rust colour for variety then apply your mask lightly with a sponge and once dry airbrush over.

When you're removing I tend to 'pick' with a cocktail stick and then use some blutack to ensure I've got it all off :)

Yep.

Picking off the masked areas can be trickier than you'd first think, but this depends a bit on the masking fluid and the paint you're spraying (as well as how much of it goes over the mask). You can dab at the surface with any lowish-tack tape to just get it to grab each masked dot but you'll probably have to resort to picking off individual ones with a cocktail stick or something. Any ones you miss actually aren't a disaster - they can look like the paint has bubbled from rust underneath but not cracked off yet.
