Mierce Miniatures - Darklands Kickstarter

Hello everyone,

I was just browsing Kickstarter, as one does, and noticed that Mierce Miniatures have one going on, and it's not too shabby. Compared to the retail prices you can pick up some nice mini's for a reasonable price. Personally, I really like some of their sculpts, however the resin is really brittle, but well worth the risk so to speak. also, I mean, who doesn't love a JAG sculpt??

Just thought I'd stick a post on here, in case anyone else fancies a punt.

Considering the way the company appears to have been formed and the past behaviour of there owner, I wouldn't touch this with a fifty foot pole. Combine this with the fact you may not have chargeback protection on your credit card when going through kickstarter I would suggest that people just give this a wide berth. Also most of the minis are existing sculpts and the discount offered isn't that great as its tied into buying their infantry which don't sell well as most people simply want the monsters.

It's a real shame tbh as some of their sculpts are superb, I love the terror of fortriu and the new Cthulhu guy. However whilst rob lane is still associated with the company they won't receive any business of mine.

Um, yeah.

Until Rob Lane shows some signs of changing his behavior -- not just putting it behind him -- I have no interest in potentially joining the long line of people he owes money and gaming supplies to.

Backing a project started by a guy that is basically a cheat and a thief.....no tyvm.

some of their models are really sweet, but my morals keeps me from buying anything from them.

I am saving my money for the Raging Heroes kickstarter,

Its too bad. I saw this and was so stoked, then found out about all the people this guy owes items to and steered clear. On the other hand I did come across this Kickstarter for Wild West Exodus and it looks really awesome! If Wild West is your thing then check this out. www.wildwestexodus.com

Well I went for it! I was unsure, as I am still owed over fifty quid from Rob Lane and Maelstrom, but the figures on offer are outstanding. For me, Kingdom Death and Mierce are producing the finest mini's available, and with the Kickstarter offers, I had to risk it. Good news is, it seems some of the other backers have begun receiving their mini's already. There were less than 500 backers, and we are close to hitting 125k, which would brign us all another couple of FOC mini's.

If I'm honest, I have added to my initial pledge, in fact post Kickstarter pledges have exceeded and addiotnal 10k, which from my limited understanding of how the whole Kickstarster process works, would make this one one of the highest amount per pledger.

Rumour has it there will be another Mierce KS later on this year, and if/when I receive all my Ysian mini's, I wil be pledging again, and I would honestly urge others to do the same. Maybe Rob Lane isn't the most honest of people, but everyone needs a second chance, and he seems to be doing all the right things with this and us backers.

I'm still nervous that I may have given away yet more of my money if I'm honest, but the savings were great and the mini's top drawer.

I'll keep you all up to date with the progress of this project and my mini's. Hey, maybe a leopard can change his spots?

Or, maybe a fool and his money are soon parted?

We shall see...............

There's no problem, the figures are coming. And I find it absolutely laughable that people on CMoN, of all places, are tearing into Mierce for this. Haha. Hypocrisy at its finest.

I am one of the "people on CMON".

I am happy to stand with Marjedi and NoNeed on this.

I find your post offensive.

You've been here nearly 4 years and this is post #2.

Is there any reason, at all, why I should giving a flying frog what you think ?

2 posts in 4 years? Just getting back into the hobby after years overseas and the occasional lurking.

Give a flying frog? I don't like hypocrisy. I'm a person on CMoN too, but I'm aware of the history.

Some people are aware of CMON's history, others aren't. Just as some were willing to give CMON a chance, and others still aren't. It's the same as with Mierce Miniatures.

Let's just take a deep breath - if it's not within your risk appetite, don't deal with Mierce. If you're willing to do so, by all means, give them a second chance.
