Mierce Miniatures

I ordered 2 minis for the "Moving Sale". Both were sent out after the closing, but by Mierce directly. One arrived speedily, the other was sent a week ago. Still waiting on it.

I had £240 order. Most of the items were back ordered and non mierce. I received my order 4 months late so I wonder how many people were actually burned.

Personally I won't touch any rob lane related business, it shows to character (or lack thereof) that maelstrom was taking preorders for products that could no longer supply due to being cut off from the supplier for those products. People might get some products now as they try to build up some rep with the community but you can be certain if there are any problems with this new company it will fold like a house of cards leaving a swathe of people in the lurch. That coupled with the fact that you have no buyer protection for kickstarter makes me very displeased when I see people being encouraged to back their project.

Grefven, we know you are a great supporter of Mierce Miniatures. To a certain extent, I understand - while I cannot speak for you, my perspective is that although Rob Lane and his people have made missteps, everyone deserves a second chance. However, Rob hasn't shown any contrition at all, very much like David Doust, and this is what is rubbing many people the wrong way.

As for New Wave, when it got rolled over (or phoenixed) into CMON, CMON did put in a fair bit of work trying to smooth things over, even if David himself didn't actually make any reparation attempts - there's a thread on Dakka Dakka about this, with a much better explanation than I could ever write, and I've seen your involvement in it.

May I suggest that we give this entire issue a rest? Yes, I fully agree, Rob has not acted properly, and Mierce will bear the scars of that for a long time, even as they work to heal public perception. But supporting, or not supporting, Mierce is a matter of personal choice now. And that's all it really is.

Shall we all just move ahead and look forward to whatever new stuff is just around the corner?

I got burned by Maelstrom. Being in Australia, everything hobby related is ridiculous in price. GW mark things up about 3x, plus there are no Waylanads or anything, so it's pretty much RRP everywhere. Maelstrom went down owing me about 50quid ($80US), I know I will never get my order or my money back. I was angry, then I moved on. I saw the KS for Mierce, and was fuming. How dare this fella steal from me (and others) and then start up another business funded on our money!! but you know what, I love their mini's. They are great sculpts, by some of the best artists ou there, and the KS is offering some really nice prices. Sod it, I've dropped 55quid on a starter set. I might even put in an extra 75 for the huge demon they have. As much as we hate Maelstrom/Rob Lane, why would I punish myself further by not owning mini's I like. Move on and move up. Less than 18 hours left, so jump on if you fancy it

The problem is you have no guarantee of actually getting any miniatures especially considering rob lanes past behaviour and because you have no chargeback protection for kickstarters, for UK backers at least not sure about funny foreign types.

Because as noneed pointed out, what's to say you get your minis this time?

How's that go? Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me?

Down to the final few hours. If nothing else, let's agree on that you'r getting a very good deal by these starter packs. For the monsters, you spend £80 for a starter and get miniatures for an average value of £174 (so a saving of around £94). Again, if nothing else, at least it's a good deal for really good miniatures!

Once you have them in your hands, yes. That's a good deal. Until then, it's a promise from someone with a history of not delivering.

QFT. Even though I did pledge for this Kickstarter, in light of my belief that everyone deserves a second chance, this is still foremost in my mind.

this was tempting but with all the complaints about this guy i decided to hold off on buying. i really like the snake guys but noticed that they are not even finished being sculpted so why chance it.

This KS finished at £108k, which is quite a success. I have no worries whatsoever that these items will be delivered, but I hope they will keep to a good timeframe to convince more people to join if they decide to do another kickstart when they release their full game. That would mean even more great deals like the ones that were offered in this KS. Getting full into the snakes, for example, gave a savings for over £100!

Well, I have to hold my hand up and admit I had some doubts I'd ever see my minis, but lo and behold what should be in my mailbox today but a package containing all the stuff I was owed by Mierce. Fair play to them - they came through and did what they said they would do. Tbh, when I weigh up the pros and cons of Mierce (as distinct from Maelstrom) they come out looking pretty good. On the down side, it took 3 months for me to get my stuff. Balanced against that is the fact that (given that they're, legally at least, not Maelstrom) they're not obliged to send me anything, and the fact that their customer service is actually rather good. Their emails were always polite. I rate politeness pretty highly, personally. Finally, their sculpts (at least the ones I have) are really, really good. Aragorn Marks did em, and it shows. Good casts, too. Comparable in quality to FW or maybe even Studio McVey.

So, would I buy from them again?

y'know, I honestly probably would. Tip of the cap to Mierce minis. Credit where it's due. Ya done good, chaps.

Well, knock me over with a feather.

I am glad to see they came through. I guess we'll see how they continue to do.

Their sculpts are pretty good, but they have burned a lot of people and Rob Lane hasn't yet shown any signs of explanation or regrets.

I'm still in the wait and see camp.

As I said during the fire-sale, or scam, I ordered 2 large minis. Krull for me and the chimaera for a friend. The Chimaera was marked as shipped but never showed up. I had suspected the delay was related to Hurricane Sandy. Krull was sent later by Mierce, which i was grateful for. After finally getting in touch with them about the Chimaera I was told it would be taken care of, but then I was lost in a pile of similar issues. I waited a month and during the Kickstarter I contacted Tim Fisher about it and had my Chimaera in about 3 weeks. So I went ahead and signed up for the KS, so I could finally have decent minotaurs for my beastmen. I know that many people got burned, and that is a shame. But I wanted to share that my issue was dealt with, and I am very happy, as they have some lovely products.

I am coming late to the Mierce party, I backed the KS.
I put it down to this: If they want this company to succeed and the names of all involved to have some reputation in the gaming world, then this KS HAS to succeed - all the way through to delivery.
