MIG filters and oil paint washes - hu????

I\'ve just tried a filter by MIG - very nice, but I wonder, considering the smell is turp, is there a difference to home made oil washes?
(filters being a term used by WWII modelers as far as I know, more than the others, meaning light washes to unify the tone and create subtle realistic variations.

cheers!

different turps affect the oil wash in slightly different ways.

mig basicly decided to creat an oil wash that would be the same when bought in any country instead of having to play around with the ratios of oil and turps to get the same results as someone in a different country.

with acrylic paint most people refer to them as glazes, very, very thin layers of paint to smooth and tint the layers underneath.
very similar to the juice technique.

I understand, do you think I\'m better off buying the MIG filters or the tubes of paint and their turp?
Are the filters the same as the oil tube but already diluted???

if your not used to oil washes then use migs pre mixed bottles (filters)
if you are used to them then by the seperate tubes and turps as it will give you a lot more control over the colours you use.

i haven\'t used oils and will be getting the premixed bottles next month to get me used to it without the hassle off getting the mix ratios correct.
once i\'m used to it then i\'ll move onto tubes and turps.

baby steps is often the quickest way of learning something new.
