Hi, ...

haven't posted anything here in years. So it's time to post some WIP's again.
Right now there are two projects on my table: the Toad King (Aradia Miniatures) and the Twilight Knight (Kingdom Death).

Just added some basic colors on the Twilight Knight ... not much to see here. I'am going to paint her like the reference-picture ... I hade to add these gem's. They weren't part of the original miniature, but I need a source for the upcoming OSL-effect. Her "stockings" won't be that purple in the end ... they'll end up rather greyish.

I put some more thought in the paintjop if the Toad King.

A little reference-picture I made ...

Adding the first color's to get an overall feel for the miniature.

The color's I'am going to use for the greenish parts of his skin and some progress on the chin.

Added some orange color at the orange parts of his skin.
Still not happy with the chin (the highlights are to harsh).

I'll post some more pictures as soon as there's something to show.

Well the toad king is very sexy, but the pinup looks like it might have been a miscast - looks like a toad :rotfl: ~sigh~ Nice work. I like where these two are going.

Owww is the pin up the 32mm one or the larger one? looks pretty good so far, love your research into the frog world your toad is looking great! welcome back :)

@Zab: Miscast? ... no. The cast was okay. Though, I wasn't really careful while attaching her arms. Those parts will be hidden by her cloak, so ... I don't bother that much. I just added some rather rought layers of colors to get a feel for the final colors. She'll look fine at the end (hopefully). :D
@Canny: Jup ... it's the 32mm version. Didn't made sense to buy/search for the 54mm version, since both mini's are actually the same except for the scale.

I like your skin tones on these guys!

One odd thing that jumps out to me is the difference between the slightly more neutral green you used on the toad's face and the "bluer" green on the rest of the mini. I think the bluer one looks really good with the orange.

@rorulmesp: The difference between the greens is not intended ... it will change. The blueisch green is sort of a guide-layer for me. It shows me where to put Highlights and Shadows and what the final colors may look like. The green in his face is the start of actually painting the green. ATM I only applied a midtone. The shadows will be kinda blueish at the and. The highlights will be a bright green (Scorpion Green-GW).
From the start on I wanted to make use of the blue/orange contrast. All green's will have this more blueish tone.

i love that toad model, definetly on my buy list. must say though, the first time allan carrasco sculpted a dick on the mini i thought it was kinda funny and well... cool. but now it feels like every mini have it like that, and especially after looking at some of mierce miniatures at Salute, i really do not like it anylonger. On that toad i will probably cover it up with a pair of underpants.

but yeah, nice pj so far! :good:

@SkelettetS: Had to laugh about the dick, when I saw the miniatures for the first time. My girlfriend also laughed hard on it. :D Dunno ... I won't cover it. It's funny to have a toad with a dick in my showcase. But I understand what you're saying. Since every of Allan's sculpts seems to have a dick ... it's nothing special anymore.

I'am going to paint the skin on the Twilight Knight this evening. I already finished her stomach, but I'am not sure about the upper body (breasts and stuff). Since I'am trying to replicate the reference I have to paint some kind of clothing on her arms. But this looks kinda dumb to me.

What do you think? Left or Right? I like the right version more.

Since noone wanted to decide which version of the clothing I should do ... I did the right version, which looks much better imho.
Till now I only used Dwarf Flesh (GW) und Elf Flesh (GW) for the skin. I'll add some more highlights with a mixture of Elf Flesh and White ... and do some more harsh highlights on some areas (her hip, her breasts).
P.S. Forget about that "finished stomach" ... I'll have to clean it up a little and add more highlights, to make it fit to the chest area.
P.P.S. The picture is a bit overexposured(?) ... the chest isn't that bright in reality.

looks like you've already decided, not waiting for our answers, but I'd have said: right, the way you've done it. looks better that way.
Hmm, if dwarf flesh is the deepest shadow, then maybe you should think about using something darker. Like a mix of bestialbrown + dwarf flesh. Or dark flesh as a glaze (if you want to add a redder, 'livelier' color)
