High standard as usual sir. Like the deep red on the McVey mini.
I'm looking forward on seeing the waterfall scene. Anything with water effect resin is nailbiting even if your experienced.

Really nice work on both figures. I especially like the pattern on the McVey figure. That's going to be a fantastic scene.

Thanks WGS, I'm not sure about the cards yet, they are so small it will be hard to fit some nice detail in there.

I was looking at the new Nocturna models release ( go look at it on their FB page if you haven't seen it yet) and it got me to thinking about painting flesh colors. I wanted to try something new so last night I got this old Phoenix girl out (same line as my beer girl from the 80's). I used only filters to paint her skin, I think I like the idea so far but will need to experiment further. Here is the painted skin, let me know what you think of this exercise.

It's a very gentle way to do the skin, but with some high contrast in places. I think it works well and looks quite dramatic. Does it take longer?

Thanks guys, glad you like her. I don't think it takes longer, maybe even faster. The surface does not need to be perfect but it does help. Her right leg was perfect and it seemed to make the result very smooth. I didn't clean her up at all, she was assembled by the previous owner years ago and very poorly at that. I am kind of mad I didn't spend some time cleaning her up but I didn't think she would be something worth keeping. Turns out I was wrong because I like her now.

With regards to the very small cards you could do the backs of the cards with only the top one revealed, just an idea

not just basically, it's the same thing, just different names (glaze is used by a lot of figure painters (esp. 28-54mm), filter is used mostly by military modellers)

thanks for answering Maxx, but yes they are basically the same thing. I think filters are a little more precise than a glaze (or at least how I view a glaze as broad brush strokes)

Here is a little update on the experimental girl. I wanted her top to be a shiny top. I'm going to make her skirt black.

I love your minis! How do you paint their shear clothing? I've seen tutorials but their end results are not nearly as clean as yours

Thanks guys. Hadesrose, the sheer effect is either done with translucent coats with the brush or airbrush. It takes some time to build it up right. Maybe I will d a more in depth SBS since I am a little better at it now.
