Minature scale

I was in model zone today looking at historical and military figures, they were all in boxs and had the scale printed on the sides...
....but, instead of using mm that im used to all the scales were in ratios, the most popular being 1:72

Has anybody got a conversion chart or know the different sizes?

I know that 1:35 is slightly smaller than 54mm, maybe 45mm? I\'m FAIRLY certain, though not entirely, that 1:72 is 28mm.

I had a funny feeling 1:72 would be 28-30mm ish, but wasnt to sure, but iv never heard of any of these scales before.

nope.....1/72 scale is smaller than 28mm.....1/48 is possibly closer to \"28mm\" which isn\'t a scale, but a descripton of a figures height, often measured to the eyes, sometimes to the top of the head.

nominal scale figure heights are
54mm = 1/32
50mm = 1/35
75mm = 1/24
120mm = 1/15 (maybe 1/16)

all dependent upon what height you define as your average height of a human, and is often taken to be a 5\' 10\" male

if you take a fixed object, such a a rifle, these will be fixed in a scale measurement you will get a consistent scale.......how tall your figure is depends on the person;

Edit; Scale is measured by ratio, eg 1/72, means that a 1 metre object in real life will be 72 times smaller in a scale model...............the maths will show you what

When I first got into modelling and figures, it was with 1/35 military soldiers....

And actually the fractional scale makes more sense to me than the 28mm.

Cheers, thanks for that Orb, i might get myself a few pieces at 54mm or larger scale, because iv never painted anything over the 28mm.

The Andrea Warlord Saga figures are described as \"54mm\", but thats for a human..........the orc in the range is close to 90mm, and the dwarf, logically is smaller

Yea i was looking at them yesterday, seriously considering getting a few from that range (or the 28mm versions) after xmas. I had noticed that on them though and how the will always take measurments up to the eye level of the mini.
