Mini and Money Issues

How much do you spend on mini related stuff each month? Since starting I\'ve just realized I\'ve been spending a lot in this area...including buying more minis before I could even finish painting the older ones.

Its an adiction I don\'t mind having, I don\'t smoke and I don\'t drink a great deal so why shouldn\'t I spend my hard earned dosh on something I enjoy as a hobby :D

:wow: at least $25 a month.... now if people would stop cranking out lovely new ones that I just have to have..perhaps that amount would go down. mean while the pile of unpainted minis grows.

I\'m with Wiccan...bout $25ish....I\'m about to have to get a whole closet in my house dedicated to my unpainted lead because my wife is none-so-happy with the fact that my pile is beginning to dominate our bedroom closet. It\'s a sickness. We need a group.

...wait....we are a group I suppose. lol

I\'d say about 200€ but I usually sell even more so the correct answer would be 0€ or a negative number. And still the little people are taking over my room.

Back when I first got into the hobby it was pretty much about $30 a week.

I quit for an extended period and then jumped back in at about $50 a week as the new plastic regiment sets were new and much cooler then the cookie cutter guys I had from the past.

At one point I looked at the 5000 to 10000 unpainted minis I have and decided I don\'t need anymore. It\'s been probably a year since I bought new ones. Now I get new minis through the ever cool Mini Exchange program Zapotek is running.

H\'mmm. Around $50+ a month, on average. However, this is a fairly recent phenomenon (last 6 months or so), brought about by a number of factors, to whit: a new, decently paid job, a settled(ish) lifestyle for the first time in three years, awesome sales of Rackham minis I had to have before they vanished, two very good, very close LGSs stocking an excellent variety of old and new minis... I could go on! I use pretty much the same reasoning as War Griffon, too. I save money by not turning my lungs into tar or spending my whole weekend puking into gutters, I have to spend that excess cash somehow! lol

Previously, even if I really wanted something, I\'d have to budget for it a bit because I was poor, or I wouldn\'t buy it because I knew I\'d be moving house/country soon, which really limits your carrying capacity for extraneous stuff. When you\'ve been living out of two suitcases for a while, minis are pretty extraneous. I am enjoying my new-found purchasing freedom, but I think I\'m going to cut back a fair bit now, I\'ve got plenty to keep me busy, and sod-all time to do anything much at the moment.

On a bit of a break at the moment but when GW start releasing Armies I like I tend to buy everything in the range. Otherwise its a box here or a blister there or two or three.......

Usualy its about £30-£60 sometimes more than £150 depending on what GW is luring me with.

See I have a problem here. Am I suposed to answer what I spend on mini stuff or what we spend as a house hold. Because I tend to spend $20-$30 max a month and only in odd months. It averages out to about $10 a month.

My husband has got us close to bankrupcy buying minis on Ebay. I\'d imagine he\'s averaging about $300 a month right now and he can\'t even see to use them or paint them. It\'s been a REALLY big problem. :( It also means if I don\'t mind painting all old Ral Partha stuff the way HE wants it painted (for gaming use only) I will never have to buy another mini in my life EVER.

Every marraige has it\'s issues.

Dang it people! None of this \"Here\'s what I spend and most of it is for commissions.\"
What do you spend on yourself! Don\'t make the rest of us look bad!:cussing:

My answer, $30 to 50 sometimes more if I don\'t watch it. Mostly more than I really can afford :(

I don\'t do commission work so every thing I buy is for me :D

If I go a month or two without buying any thing then stand by for some really bad weather lollol but then again I did go 4 months recently without buying anything but that was because I was away at sea :D

At the moment not a lot, as i\'m brassic lint and have had to sell some painted stuff to pay a few bills etc...

But I have been known to spend LOTS when money hasn\'t been so tight.

This month I have spent 99p and last month about £5 or so.

oh less than $10. i have plenty left over from my defunct retail bit a while back so jsut mostly trade what i have for newer stuff i want. meaning i make others spend money. of course they spend less than GW retail for the things they want.

and i wont try calculating leftover stock over time to see how much it is monthly, sorry.

After 5 months of buying, I\'ve just completed my SM terminators plus a dread. Yet I just ordered a Leman Russ squadron as they are hard to fine. I need to develop a rule where I can only buy when I have nothing else to make or paint.

I was into model/fashion photography that cost nothing with my wife told me to switch to another hobby.

But I don\'t spend money on things for myself usually . . . I will be dropping about $200 for my GW models I plan to paint for GD Baltimore though. That\'s just for me. But I can claim it as a business expense :D
