Hmm... some spare fields to take track of the pieces used for a conversion can be useful and maybe an html output so you can post the database on your site.

Ok, it\'s a bit too much but we still are in the brainstorming phase, right?

Wouldn\'t it be fun to have a running tally of how much money you\'ve spent on minis? Every time you get a new one, you could enter its price into the database. It\'d be scary, definitely, but also quite interesting.

You\'d just have to encrypt it so your wife/house mates/whatever couldn\'t see it without a password.

Ok Now as someone who works in IT and uses databases a lot(!) I\'ve got one question:-

Isn\'t it a bit too organised for a mini painter?..... I can only think of a few people who are orgainsed enough, Saxonangel, Nailpainter2003 and The_Artisan\'s edge.
Having seen the working areas of quite a few painters on here I think that the whole effort would be great, in principal.
But I still like the thrill of tidying up my desk (Annually) and finding something that I\'d forgotten I\'d bought.

As for a running tally of what I\'ve spent on minis ---- no thanks. Lets face it we\'ve all probably got more lead in our houses than a Sam Peckinpah movie!! lol

Yep forgot about the exception to the rule. Mr \"I only buy a new mini after I \'ve painted one\" Corvus. The man is obviously not a lead/pewter addict like the rest of us.

Some people also call my \"very tidy\". This picture is rather old, but very much hasn\'t changed: the number of Vallejo bottles has tripled, and I now keep them in a small box on a corner of my desk. The spray cans moved into a cupboard and I added a second light:

Sounds like a great idea! I\'d love to know what minis I own and where they are stored. I was talking to someone about that just yesterday.

Is the plan to develop a self-contained database a la Army Builder?

I\'m thinking that all fields mentioned so far could/should be included and the individual be able to customise the desired fields. I certainly don\'t want to look at a record of dollars spent as I already know that it\'s a bunch and that\'s all I really need to know - best to avoid the shock factor!

I think the manufacturers SKU would be key. And a place you can enter your own SKU.
Then you can theoretically market it it to retailers as well.

How about the sculptor?
How about the painter?
Then a person that collects could use it as well.

How about the
Buyer_Name
Buyer_Email
Buyer_Address
Buyer_Paypal

then people that sell can use it to track their business?

Or how about a table that says \"Custom\" MID,CustomName,CustomValue.

Okay thanks. Since I will be developing the application in Microsoft.net I\'m afraid you can only use your Windows computer to test it, since there is no .Net runtime (yet) for Linux systems.
