Perhaps not a cliche as such... perhaps more a matter of bad design. But, something that bugs me to no end is miniatures wielding swords, or other weapons, when large banner poles, stupid spikes with skulls on them, oversized shoulder pads with spikes etc. makes it impossible to wield the weapon in question.

That would be a given ofcourse - because of the way wind moves when it encounters obstacles. I have a brother who is an engineer for the biggest windmill company in Denmark, and I can give you scientifical proof that that is how it MUST be if the mini is to be lifelike!

That is a peeve of mine tho: The number of female minis where they\'ve gone for floorboards rather than carpet. I wouldn\'t mind, but usually you wonder where on earth they found someone to do that in the middle of a battlefield. Do they have a crack team of beauticians on hand with a vat of wax and a bale of linen strips standing by? Can be used for hair removal or repelling sieges!

Hmm.. Seems people are really off about oversized weapons. Personally, I enjoy them, i enjoy building them, i enjoy painting them and i enjoy looking at them. Lets face it, a biiiiiiig sword with ornaments and like a dragons face as a grip is more badass then a shortsword like everyone has, i think a badass weapon gives a sence of character... A plain sword is just so, well not personal.
The pointing pose is one that I personally dont really admire though...

This sounds very much like a conversion I\'m working on right now.
Half Nude: Check. Mostly just straps and buckles.
Chaos chick: Check. An evil themed/overlord race.
Skulls: Check. I sculpted a skull on her helmet since she was missing skulls.
Horns: Check. I sculpted horns on her helmet.
Big shoulderplates: Check. I sculpted shoulder armor and a spiky shoulderplate on her previously bare arm.
Big weapons: Check. Two oversized one handed swords, dual wielding, pretty big suckers I would definately put them in the oversized weapons category.
Wavy loincloth: Check. I sculpted her loincloth to be longer, and waving in the direction her hair was blowing.
Missing: pile of skulls (already based her, sorry), Mohawk (she\'s got long hair), severed heads. (I could always add one lol) and she\'s not wearing a cape (half naked with a cape? Too freaky, even for me).
So yeah if I finish the mini before this thread becomes ancient history (almost done with the conversion) I\'ll post the final project here for sure.
I find most of the things listed in this thread were personally lacking on that mini, which had great potential, plus I want to always practice my converting and sculpture skills, so a good thing should hopefully come of this. Funny thing is, I had the idea for all of that a week before this thread was ever created. Cliches are cliche for a reason heh. They\'re used alot.
