Well, I am glad I\'m not losing it completely...

Seems I am not the only one around here with organisational needs. I did hesitate with the original post however.

*Middle aged man, own hair and teeth, needs accommodating database to catalogue his extensive collection of lead soldiers*

You gotta admit, it does sound sad.

But you didn\'t have to go and tell me Nomis you complete *?(&$#$@$!

Ahh, that\'s better.....lol

Oh come on, Finn. I\'ve been suspecting that you\'re in reality just some kind of \"entertainer\" AI auto-poster program that Chern installed for the forums to keep people busy. No human being would be able to spend so much time here! lol

That\'s one of the nicest things anyone has ever said to me..

You are not insinuating that we should have a bidding war over \"not yet dead Finns\" huge mini lot are you?

In that case, I see your 20 and raise you 10!!

Thousands and thousands...I could stock a small shop easily, but I can still always think of more I would like to buy and eBay is a constant source of temptation.

It\'s a disease caused by subcutaneously absorbed lead, to quote Mr Cult.:D

Yeah me to! I have been catloguing my minis in MS Access for years. It started as a way to keep track of my armies for playing 40K & Warhammer. I use simple form with multiple columns, 225 characters is more then enough if you make well defined field.

Finn17, if have access 2000 or better I could send you an empty copy of mine. I would be a good start for you and you could adapt it to your needs.

Database program

If you want a pretty serious graphic database I recommend Extensis Portfolio.

You can download a full version for mac or windows that will expire after a month I think from here:

http://www.extensis.com/support/5e.html?ref=hpnav

You can create custom fields and assign keywords which are all fully searchable. And the results of which can be printed. You can create and save custom galleries and queries. I use it all day where I work and its a very robust program with a lot of nice features.

Big thing with this is it is a file database, meaning you need some kind of file to create a record. As I said, its primarily a graphic interface. I use it to store and maintain my digital mini photos at home and it is well suited to that purpose.

So unless taking individual pictures of your vast miniature collection is something you\'re interested in doing, this may not be the right choice...

I find it easier to manipulate and customize than Access or other database programs however...

Thanks for all the help and advice guys \'n\' gals!

It\'s really heartwarming to ask possibly the world\'s most boring question and have so many people respond. :D

ps. As Access has cropped up a lot I will try and get a closer look, I might then take you up on that offer Darkblade..thanks:flip:

Hey, Darkblade...

I\'m interested in obtaining a blank copy of your database...how might I obtain it from you?

BTW in case anyone\'s curious I estimate that there are 2500-3000 little lead people and monsters lurking in my basement...
