Miniature Exchange #2

As I said I\'m in.

Kinda looking forward to it, It\'s a little strange and yet interesting idea.
I\'ve been watching the Round Robin threads with interest as I think that is a good way for others to closely examine the work of other painters, rather than just looking at pictures all the time. (Not that there\'s anything wrong in that!) :D

Hey Freak hope it all goes well in Hospital.
Loathsome places to have to stay in, hope that you\'re able to at least get a little reading done. :D

It\'s great to see such interest - the more people that are in on this the better, IMO. I\'m definitely in.

TJeffers, do you want us all to send you our mailing addresses and you pass them to our \"donor\" (sort of a secret santa thing) or will you just post a list? I.e. will we know who our donor is ahead of time? I gather that it\'s not just a straight swap, i.e. the person I send to isn\'t neccessarily the person I get a mini from.

Also, I think what you get should be a surprise. The donor shouldn\'t let the receiver know what they\'re going to send, though I suppose if the receiver has a strong aversion to fantasy or SF minis they could publicly beg and hope to influence the choice ;)

Whoa!

Definetely interested. Count me in as the representative of Finland, the land of pola bears.

(Yes, I know it\'s spelled \"polar\". :p)

Funny I thought it was the Land of Lakes? (Oh yes and Nokia!)

Myself, I\'ll paint anything. The whole idea is to pick up something \'different\' from someone else and to paint it. That\'s where all the fun is.

Now don\'t get me wrong, if I send out an limited edition chaos warrior and get a plastic gretchin with a broken weapon, I\'m gonna be aggrivated, but that just means I\'ll fix the bugger up, paint him, and add a rather \'nasty note\' to the list for the next time around names are pulled from the \'hat\' and mini\'s are passed around.

Send what you want, don\'t bankrupt yourself in the process and just be considerate in general. I think this is going to be a lot of fun.

Now ... if I can only get this digital camera to work proper ... (grrr).

I\'m looking forward to this, to take up the point made earlier about surprises as long as we know who likes sci fi and who likes fantasy and isn\'t bother what they paint then the actual mini that is sent need not be known beforehand. That still leaves an element of surprise. :D

Bah, bad habbit of posting and then thinking of something else .. anyhow.

I was thinking that when you have done all the selections for everyone (random or geographical) that we could post up a list of who is trading to whom and what type of miniature was sent after a week or so (perhaps take pictures or scan in the original miniature so that it can be thrown up with the finished one).

Also, I think this has GREAT potential as something that continues for some time to come. I know some of us paint faster than others (me, I\'m in the middle somewhere I think) but do we want to put a time stamp of say ... five weeks from begining to end (shipping and all that) for those involved to get it painted and put up? Then after that, we can start up another one of these \'pass the mini\' contest.

My two cents, which is worth more than canadian! :D

Yes, you forgot ipaintminis...

Becca, if you\'re seriously not interested, let me know. Otherwise, I can easily supply a mini to be sent in your name, so you can participate.

You know, the last few days I have sworn I would play Dawn of War, paint some miniatures and get some luvin\' from the wife.

Damn CMoN is sucking all the life out of me. I\'ve ATLEAST got to get the luvin\' ....

Anyhow, 38 people, breaks down into 19 groups (I know, my math skills are amazing aren\'t they!?!) which makes for a good group of people to start this off.

Also, what are we calling this? Pass the Mini? My Trash is your Treasure (heh). Here, I don\'t want this crap, you take it!

And lastly, just having a few more thoughts on this, if it gets off the ground well, what if in the future we make \'themed\' pass the minis or whatnot? This time around its just whatever, maybe next time it is something Sci-fi, another time its Fantasy, next time it is a Critter, Creature or Monster.

Thoughts?

(marching off in search of that luvin\' ...)

I like the idea of theming the event so to speak as personally I get my enjoyment from painting minis of all types.
How about a quick rip off of the Capital Gold ad, \"what\'s in your crap pile\". :D
Lastly I live in the UK and will PM my address to whoever wants it.
