Hi everyone. I\'ve been checking out coolminornot for about 6 months now for inspiration and things. I\'ve havent posted my own submission yet. (I dont know why).

And then I found this thread, and I\'ve got a few questions concerning the Miniature Exchange, because I think I may want to becoem involved for the next one.

Fisrt off, I think this is a great idea. Good job. Anyways...

1. How often do you guys hold these things?

Answer 1) About every 3 months or so, this one ends at the end of June I think

2. Is everyone who is involved in this expected to be a really good painter? I\'d say I\'m fairly decent myself (maybe a 7-7.5 rating on CMON for my better stuff) I just wouldnt want to send my mini out, have it come back a masterpiece, and have someone dissapointed in what they got back.

Answer 2) Nope you do not have to be a perfect painter, matter of fact you keep the mini you are sent, so never send anything you want back.

3. Are there any restrictions on what kind of models are sent out, or what size they are?

Answer 3) Good question, I don\'t think so, we usually look at the persons gallery that we are sending to, and eather pick something really really different so they get to paint something new, or send something that you would think they would like.

4. Are there any age restrictions? I\'m only 16...

Answer 4) Nope non, I am waiting for my minis in this exchange, comeing form a teenage boy, so nope no age restrictions as long as its ok with your folks.

I think thats about it for now. Like I said, awesome idea, and I hopeto get involved in the future! :D

PM Frustrated Father, and watch for Mini Exchange 4 when this one is over. Hope this helped and Welcome to the Forums

@Snake eyes66...

...Aye,everything Gin said ;) the more the merrier :D @Galante--the Bugbear looks good,he has an unusual head/face! Great idea with the colour study,that\'d help me immeasurably....I\'m very haphazard with colours! :D

Thanks!

I think I get it now...

So if I send out a Chaos Champion to, um, \"Jeff\", he will paint it and keep it? And then I recieve a model from \"Jenny\" and I paint it and keep it?

If I got that right, its a bit different than I thought, but still cool.

And so after you paint the fig, your supposed to put it up here for everyone to see?

Thanks again.

Frustrated Father will put out a general call when the next one is about to roll around. First mention will probably be in this thread, otherwise keep your eyes peeled.

Welcome to the forums, SnakeEyes66!:D

Mickc have you started the mini i sent you for the last exchange?
and now.....wheres my minis? mom cleaned up everything and now i can find anything at all. isnt that odd? when its a mess i can find things fast and easy! but now that its clean....

.....uummmm....... in a word........ no, but the plan is, in between commissions, to do 2 & 3 together, now when, is a different matter :D

Great stuff everyone. Galante, if I had even a smidgen of artistic ability I think I would do the color combination as you have. Great way to come up with a scheme instead of staring at it with a brush in hand going \'uhhhh\'.

@ Snakeeyes66

Welcome to the forums. Gin and the rest explained it pretty well. Essentially, every three months, we do an exchange, completely random, and you send out something to someone and get something from someone else (never get and give to the same person except where I have taken on a few \'latecomers\'). You paint. You keep.

From start to finish we run about two months or so, with a couple weeks in between each one to post pictures, pat each other on the back, and to announce and get lined up for the next crop of exchange participants as we gain and loose some due to how life goes in the real world.

@ whomever ...

I\'ve got my Captain Allister put together though he needs a bit of GS\'ing for his arms and a some drilling done for his weapons.

Got the Rackham Undead dwarf cleaned, based and primed. Had to pin his halberd as that broke promptly. Has anyone else had problems with pole arms and rackham sculpts? This is the second in a row that I\'ve had break with very little effort involved. Anyhow, neat bugger, trying to figure out paint scheme for him. Slightly intimidated by the bugger.

For the ME2 I\'ve got some \'things\' that Zora sent me that I got cleaned up and read for prime. Not sure where to start with them but while I was working on them my oldest daughter informed me she wanted them. Of course I said, sure honey, when I\'m done painting them. Uh-uhh ... nope. She wants to paint them. They are \'sweet\' apparently. Might let her have at one of them.

Started working over the Lobster man I got as well from ME2 with Gin. He\'s not exactly looking like he used too (hehe) and I\'m building up a base and scenario for the Bezerker I was sent by .... Phologus I this it was (sorry if I misremember, was one of four latecomers I traded with). He\'s mean crazy looking.

All that, and I got most of the work done on my Skrag the Slaughterer.

Good weekend!

Apologies

First off, let me apologize to both Drake Farstrider and to ILYNX2K4. Unfortunately, real life stepped in and I haven\'t been home for a few days (was it weeks?? months?? been so long I cant remember)

@ Drake:
I recieved the miniatures a while ago. Very cool choices.
Drake sent me a Vampire count from GW, a sniper from IKORE and a Western female that looks like Annie Oakly, but I\'m not familiar with the sculpt so I cant tell you who the maker is. I think hse is going to be the most fun though! I\'ll get some pictures as soon as I am able.

@ Ilynx2k4:
I apologize for being so late in getting your stuff out. I had originally sent a box but it came back with insuffuicient address. I messaged you for the correction, hten real life stepped in and this thing went to the back burner. I just sent them off again in the post today.

Oh Happy Day!:bouncy:
My Minis from Calavera arrived today, Thank you,
Wow talk about cool, and totally different from what I usually paint!

Ok so Pictures first!

GW.jpg

These have got to be the absolutely smallest Minis I have ever seen, we are talking tiny, I can fit all four on a quarter!
My husbands first comment, he is calling the eye Doctor for an appointment, because after doing these buggers I am going to need it!lol
What the Heck are these things? they say GW 85 on the bottom!

Not sure what these guys are eather, but they are pretty neat too, lots of detail! I like the fellow with the half eaten drumstick in his mouth, my kids labeled him \"the Junk Man\"!:D

Dwarf.jpg

I am absolutly in love with the dwarf! I really want to paint him first, but think in will do the tiny guys, just for the challange they present! but I REALLY love the dwarf, the pic is bad, I willl pin and prime him and shoot another picture before I paint him up!
The tank thing will be a challange too, I have never done a tank before!

Thank you again Calavera for your Generosity. The minis were well worth the wait!

WOW,
Calavera, Thank you, lots and lots of choices, thanks for letting me know what was what, I don\'t game and have never had any thing from GW (hence never had to post to the I hate GW threads)lol

All of the minis are really cool, and the snotlings are Effing small!
Thanks again, now time to feed the kids, put them down for a nap and have two whole hours to play!

Those are some cool minis, Calavera!

Gin, you gave me a heart attack. Reading your answer to SnakeEyes66, I saw the \"I am 16\" part, thought it was you stating your own age. Further down in the thread, you were talking about your husband....I had to go and reread the whole thing! lol

No problem Lurch. The Western Girl is from Pinnacles Deadlands line. She was going to be a charcater in a Deadlands game that never got off the ground. Hopefully Life will allow you to get one of these painted.

Sherman, set the wayback machine for 1989. . .

I got a nice selcetion of oldies but goodies from praetorian0_1 today:

A great chaos android from Space Crusade
A classic female guards(wo)man with autocannon

The bottom two figures I don\'t recognize the bottoms are engraved as: AA \'91. Which I recall as Alternate Armies though I only was familliar with their fantasy ranges back then, so I don\'t know what these are officially. They make pretty fair imperial guard knock offs. :)

Anyway, thanks for the blasts from the past !

Been away for a few days.

@Cdukino: Whoa. That\'s a fabulous conversion on her, for one, and a great job, for two. I agree... do the dragon next! :)

Some very fine pictures up, already, and I\'m going to need a boot to the rear to get mine finished ... though my wife (sixwingedangel) appropriated one for herself, so I only have the 2 to do.

One, I\'m part done, trying to do in NMM, and the other, I think I\'m going to wimp out and do with metallics.

Been absent due to little brother getting married on the weekend.

And recovering from the hangover. :)

ME4 can\'t come soon enough for me. :D
