hey all, I was looking for a mini painting dvd when I found this.

THe complete miniature series....

Is this a good buy, I really want to step up my painting game, I am already, but I want that extra help to make me a really good painter.

so what do you guys think, oh and I'm willing to spend the money too.

I did a review of this DVD for WAMP that might help you make a decision. All of the Miniature Mentor stuff I've reviewed has been very good. This DVD will help you with general painting, but is more geared toward display quality work. If you're interested in doing better gaming quality work then I highly reccomend their speed painting tutorial I also reviewed.

Miniature Mentor's Complete solution totally turned my painting around. It really showed my a bunch of stuff I hadn't realized, like how much you can water your paints and how to do seriously smooth transparency blending. This is a bit extreme for a lot of the minis I do but since learning to do that I've been able to step back a notch and paint faster, but with the same techniques, blending properly. Now I sort of decide for each mini how far I'll take it, weighing quality/smoothness against speed, but always using these techniques to some extent.
It also gave a whole bunch of ideas on how to use the right colors for more interesting shades and highlights.
This DVD (or in my case download) really started me on the right path in painting.

I got the speed painting tutorial recently and I don't find it half as informative. It focuses on a very specific style, while the Complete solution really covers the basics of smooth painting and realistic shading.
