Nope. For once it wasn\'t!lol

Mike\'s point about meditation is a good one. When I paint my mind becomes completely focused - it has to be! I forget about everything that has gone on in the day/week and I find that this, coupled with the immense satisfaction of completing a mini is very cleansing and uplifting.

Only problem is that it\'s like a drug. A few hours after finishing one, I need to start all over.........lol

I paint for the main just for the pure enjoyment of seeing a piece of metal or plastic transform into something that is as alive as I can make it look.
Also I now have second reason. I recently lost my best friend in a motorcycle accident and after having known him for over 20 years and he was also the inspiration for me to get into fantasy miniature painting.

@dragonsreach - where do you get them from then? sound good. the perry\'s always were the back bone of the warhammer sculpting if you ask me

surely it is!
concerning my experience, it doesn\'t matter the level you can achieve: it\'s enough to be satisfied of your work, it helps relaxing and you can always say you\'re an artist lol (even if people think you\'re just a kid playing with toy soldiers)

;)

There aren\'t many picture up on the site ATM, in fact non of the Border Reivers. Edit: OOps I\'ll retract that statement. Yes there are picture of some of the miniatures up there. I just didn\'t look hard enough.
But I\'ll have a couple of Plain Pewter versions up on my site this weekend. But just for you here\'s a preview:-

That took some doing, couldn\'t get the size right. Sorry if anyone got a huge screen full there.

To maintain the illusion of our childhood not being totaly over. (That\'s for the older ones out here)

Also for me it provides a means towards Meditation.

This would be an interesting poll actually, what people feel is the primary reason they keep painting. I would say in order of priority for me

Artistic outlet
Meditation
Hobby Aid

Yep, is it worth it.

Depending on what you expect out of it, actually. As a hobby, is is just sterling to me.

Mind you, Do you realize that posting such a question in this forum is like going to the nearest KFC/Popeye\'s/whatever and ask the customers there if they like chicken?

wait a tick...

actually this is a question I do ask myself from time to time....

When I am in some of my more \'pessimistic\' moods, I really wonder of the validity of (at least in my case) a grown man playing with such silly little toys, and fretting over inane topics of whether an unreal light source would reflect this way or that.

Sometimes, I wonder why I would spend my hard earned money on plastic, and resin, and pewter, with so many now that I could never ever realistically paint them all...

It makes me wonder while laying in bed at night, my wife is reading a corrospondent college course, and I am flipping through countless warhammer books to find the right color scheme for an orc that I want to paint.

But then when I am sitting there, in my little hobby room, whether it is painting or browsing through my booty, it kind of hits me....I don\'t know exactly what \'it\' is, but the closest I can think of it is joy. Pure, childlike joy. Creative thoughts pop into my mind, so many that I have to scribble them down in a little book. All my \'real life\' troubles seem to melt away, and I am in a state of mind no drug could ever replicate (at least not any drug I know of)...

So yeah, to answer your question, It is worth EVERY SINGLE PENNY....(except that time I bought those blankity blank warmaster minis for 50 bucks..)

***Warning: Drive-by posting hazard***

It would be worth it for me right now if I could actually find the time to do some painting. I need the relaxation and stress relief.

*waves* Hi all.

I now return to the person with no time to turn on the computer at home to even check email, much less postings on boards I\'m not permitted at from work.

Painting is like mountain climbing

I paint because they are there in a sense. I paint for an artistic outlet, and relaxation. I take pride in what I get done...even though I do not have a very good way to show you folks....camera sucks.....working on it though. Why do people do anything? Golf, fish, etc. It is all a diversion from the fact that we are all mortal.....lol
