Ok, so if someone buys a mobile phone off eBay does that mean that they can be arrested for terrorism?
As they COULD use it to trigger a remote bomb?

I\'m pretty sure Minority Report was fiction, so as far as I\'m concerned, this should be a simple fine for customs or something, as they can\'t prove or disprove a person\'s intention without catching them in the act...

EDIT: Incidentally, I sent you a PM ages ago Kep, did you get it...?

Fron the article:
Page, 28, says he wanted the substance to clean rust from his weights and a bicycle and to remove paint from tiny plastic and pewter figurines from his game Warhammer.

.. and the picture included in the article depicts Privateer Press figures.

Will GW sue?

Crazy! :wow:

How about we as human society concentrate on the causes of depression and such so that the escapism of drug abuse isn\'t as prevalent.
How about fixing the problems instead of treating the symptoms?

Sounds like a good idea to me.

Couple of thoughts. First, the prosecutor\'s a complete ass who doesn\'t know what he\'s talking about. Use nail polish remover to remove rust? And hell, even straight acetone is (IMO) complete crap for stripping minis.

Second, isn\'t $200AU a bit steep for 700 milligrams? Unless it\'s in super-concentrated crystal form, I suppose...

First, I use Melaleuca Sol-u-mel so I wouldn\'t know about anything else for stripping minis
Second, How much of that was shipping?
Did he get it on ebay?

I agree the prosecutor is talking out of his arse nailpolish remover won\'t touch paint. However the guy paid $200, that\'s £85, so he must be intending to strip a hell of a lot of minis. You might as well buy new ones for that price. It does sound a bit suss but proving what he was going to do with it is going to be dificult.

wow . . . well, hopefully he really did have good intentions and just wanted to use it for stripping minis. That\'s kinda spendy though for a stripper. Oh you guys know what I mean.

$200 is kinda spendy for a paint stripper. And he could have used an acetone-based nail polish remover instead, just the fumes of acetone have an effect on paint.

$200 worth of paint stripper... yeah, right.

$200 isn\'t that much to avoid something your allergic to.

i am confused though. if it\'s an actual cleaning product isn\'t it assumed thats what it\'s used fo unless you have apparatus sitting around that can abuse it?

i\'m getting rather sick of australian laws insisting that because you could possibly do something then you must be charged for actually doing it.

My reading is he tried to import something into the country he admits knowing he needed a permit to get. He has been charged by Customs who deal with importation breaches.

If you know you need to get permission to get a substance imported into the country via the mail and choose to ignore that you can\'t complain when you get caught. It isn\'t the use he was planning that is important, he just chose to ignore doing something that would have saved him grief. It is no different than being caught trying to smuggle fruit through the airport.
