Minis that someone else painted?

Hi! Just currious here... I was under the impression that the whole \"point\" of CMON was to put up photos of minis we painted and see how we rate. However, after voting on more than 6,000 minis now, I\'ve run across quite a few that in the description it says \"Painted by ______.\" Or \"This isn\'t my work, but the work of _______.\" Things like that. So, when we vote the person who posted the photo gets the credit rather than the painter? Maybe when posting someone elses work rather than being able to vote, it should be available for comment only? I was just thinking about this and wondered what everyone else\'s views are.

This has often been a touchy subject...

As long as the poster isn\'t claiming it is his/her work and the mini isn\'t already posted by the artist, why deprive the public of a chance to see it? I would normally hope of course, that it is a mini worth seeing.
People claiming other\'s work as their own however will have their posts deleted.

I\'m definitely glad they post the photos as most of them were very very awesome and inspiring paint jobs. But, for instance, if I purchased a mini and it scored a 8 or 9 which is way higher than my average, I would feel kind of bad if that raised my rank... since I didn\'t actually earn it. I was just thinking it\'d be cool if those photos were available for comment only or if there were some way that should it end up one of the top five in a portfolio, it would be skipped when calculating rank... maybe marked in a way to not be included in the average? I\'m not trying to be a dink, just thinking outloud.

My attitude towards these is not to vote on them. Fine if you want to share, but one shouldn\'t, as you say, get to take ANY sort of credit for it.

I\'d say, if you want people here to check out something that isn\'t your work, post it in the forums. No voting, no problem!

A lot of those I see are from a studio that is marketing the minis. I understand that they are using CMON then for a link and picture host.

But if it is just a \"I saw this really cool mini and wanted to share it with everyone\" then I either don\'t vote, or vote low and leave a comment - \"Very nice mini that I would score much better if the artist was to post it.\" or similar. Like you said, no sense in running up the guys rating becase he is posting other peoples minis.
