OK, perhaps I should have elaborated on the Alclad lacquers. I haven\'t tried to contact them directly about their product, but I\'ve seen fantastic examples on different websites. They produce several 2-tone colors that are perfect for what you want to do. The maple 2-tone looks to be exactly what you\'re looking for. It does appear that they produce translucent colors as well. Check out their ordering page (maybe you already did...) I wouldn\'t order from them directly, but would get them from a place like this: http://www.greatmodels.com/

These can produce some fantastic effects, but require an airbrush and a breathing mask as well. You\'ll also need lacquer thinner for cleaning up (which is extremely flammable). I think if you know what you\'re doing, these would work well for you, but are definitely not for beginners. Hope this is more helpful.

I think it is hilarious that I am sitting at a computer in Distribution Center 1 of Dick Blick randomly reading this forum while working :)

Didn\'t expect to see my company mentioned!

By the way, I use a lot of stuff from here when painting my minis, great paints/brushes/accessories for painting.
