Does getting a \'virtual\' kick in the butt count as a social life?lol???lol

well, if you want to chat to liliana, go to the Reaper forums, that\'s where she spends most of her time....

but to be serious, the reason why so many painters that are \'high hitters; in awards and such don\'t post regularily, is because they don\'t want to be bothered by so-called \'fanboys\'. They love painting minis, but don\'t want to have hordes of 12 year olds telling them how great they are all the time, like I said, they have social lives.....This thread is actually the main reason for them to stay away....

I can see where Tammy\'s coming from on this, I just wish that wasn\'t the case.

I\'ve posted my minis on here and they are really bad. But I\'m a part of the hobby. My site has new WM characters and scenarios because I\'m wanting to share my hobby with other enthuseasts around the web. Sort of like one big games club.

That\'s why I like CMON, because there are lots of people sharing their conversions and new characters and letting me see their hobby.

I wish we could see more of these greats because they inspire the rest of us in ways that most people couldn\'t do (okay, I know that Tammy is up there too so we are pretty lucky in that respect).

And as to being a Jen Haley fan boy. Yeah, I guess I am. I just really love what she can do with a mini and I so wish that I could paint like her.

Then of course there\'s painters who simply aren\'t online yet! Adrian Bay, for example (still taking pics with 35mm film)

Yea, there are lots of painters here I respect. T-Haye, Dragonsreach, Temperance, etc. There are also lots of painters here that I can call friends thanks to this forum. Much larger list. But I also understant that to paint at that level requires time (at the brushes, not on the forums) and a level of dedication that I cannot give right now.

Color me \"fanboy - just a little\" but nowhere near stalker - I\'m too old to be a drooling adolesent and mid-life crisis is not my style. More like \"show me how you make that look so easy so I can spend a week trying to paint something close.\" They (the \"greats\") are human too. They are entitled to a night out, friends and their share of fun.

This site is blessed with some extreemely gifted painters. It is doubly blessed by having this forum where we can \"chat\" with them and share bits of ourselves. How much of yourself you share here is a very personal decision.

whooops!
A misunderstanding here. Now I think it is because that Calavera wasn\'t very specific when he started this topic. The idea was NOT that they should post on the forums, but that they should post their amazing gd winner entries here on cmon. And come to think about it. What is most important? That they post Topics on a minipainting site forum? Or that they actually post their minis so we others can benefit from them and get inspiration?

You know, to some extent, I think this whole thread is a case of \"the grass is always greener...\" This sight and even these forums have more than their share of extremely talented painters. Rather than pine over those who are not here, we should appreciate those who are here. And the advantage of those who are here is that they are here by choice and, for the most part, more than willing to be of assistance. But, its not just that they are here to be of aide when you or I need advice, hey\'re also here, apparently, because they enjoy this place. They are allowed to be people here - not GODS. I\'d rather be able to hang out here and talk about whatever silly bulls#*t comes up, than be able to sit at the feet of some reputed master and have their wisdom poured down on me. I think we take some of the talent here for granted because they don\'t act like primadonnas - they act like the real people that they are.

I understand completely where Tammy is coming from. In fact, I actually get annoyed at the use of the term \"painting god\" If I were one of those talented painters, I\'d run like hell from anyone using that term. I mean, we all like a little ego boost now and then, but if you actually aought out that kind of attention, you\'d have some serious personality issues.

So I\'d rather be able to interact with the people who are here. Some of them are extremely talented, some are not. That really doesn\'t matter to me. That\'s not why I come here. I come here for the comraderie and community, for the opportunity to share with people with whom I share a common interest. If this were ever to become a place where I was expected to worship at the feet of some \"painter god\", I\'d be gone.

Personally I think that due to the openness and friendly nature of our forums we expect all people to be like us.
Some people are not all that comfortable with the idea of kicking their shoes off and sitting comfortably in a \'Virtual\' cafe. (Hey I know my mother (bless her) isn\'t confortable just slobbing around in that manner.)

While it would be nice to have some of the more respected Painters (Our Heros and Heroines) \'Schmoosing\' with us I for one am not going to lose any sleep about it. If they decide to join in, excellent, if not, well they don\'t know what they are missing.
(Although on second thoughts with the likes of Tammy, Dauber, Supervike, myself, and other \"Ditzies\" maybe they do. ;) lollollol )

@ Dauber22 hey have a look at your last posted comment and then your signature. ;) lol .

This should teach me a valuable lesson:
- avoid using quotes from anyone who once appeared here wearing a giant raspberry for a hat -

I reckon I would have a Gold Demon by now if I spent as much time painting as I do browsing and interacting with this site.
But do you know what,..
I wouldn\'t have it any other way.
I consider everyone here my friends and get great enjoyment from the forums and image galleries. If I didn\'t I think I would give up mini painting all together. For me mini painting is about 50% painting and 50% joining in with my friends.
Having you lot means a lot more to me than I let on.
If these \"masters\" are full time employed I very much doubt they have time to paint fantastic minis and participate well in forums.
