This is a strange question but did any of you ever mixed the undercoats layers on a mini ??

So for example did you spraypaint the mini whith a white coat and then took a brush and painted some elements black for using blacklining ??

I\'m Asking becauce im working on two Chaos Giants apart from my WIP\'s that I pos here on the forum.

Generally the Giants where basecoated with GW skull white spray and then I base coated the trousers and some ather elements such as the weapons the arm graves with Chaos black for blacklining.

Did any of you use such a technic ?? And what do you think of such thing ??

Yeah, I used to use it years ago, don\'t do it at the moment \'cause I\'m painting in bulk and I basically can\'t be bothered, (lazy arse) but I always found it really useful.

It\'s used quite regularly on large scale mini\'s (usually Historicals ) where the darker undercoat (or Black) is Airbrushed on.
It\'s also regularly used to achieve the undercoat required for the Zenithal Lighting method of painting.

Elochard has done an article on using Dilute White on a black Primer to achieve a very fine \"washed\" skin effect. He got it right, my attempt was not so good.

JTY quite often uses(used) Bestial Brown as a lighter second undercoat for some of his figures.
