I love dioramas and such, but I can\'t quite figure out what is going on in the Lovecraft one.....Don\'t get me wrong, it looks interesting, but what the heck is happening?

Ditto. If some Deepone\'s were dragging him into the water I\'d understand but as is, I just dont get it.

I was wondering what the story behind was too
that\'s what they asked the guy who made it, he said there wasn\'t any story to it it was just an image he had in his mind
so I just marvelled at the water

Sometimes, it just like a catchy song, you don\'t have to know the lyrics to enjoy it!!

It is very cool though....

oh.. very nice! :D That piece on display definately gives an emotion.. and it\'s open for interpretation as well. I like that. The water is very nice as well. I have plans on playing with watereffects as well.. got me even more inspired. :)

@Supervike: Exactly. And often when you get the explanation.. you\'re disappointed.

I had an ex girlfriend say something similar to me once...Lying in bed she always used to say what you thinking about..I used to say nothing..She was happy in the bliss that I was possibly planning future life with children nice house and white picket fence....When she learnt the truth...(somethng along the lines of Jessica Alba ,,Denise Richardson and Famke Janssen fighting over a Naked me covered in jam ) led to her dissappointment..

Leaving a model image in a diorama setting open to the viewers interpretation is a harder feat than it seems..especially with such a simple composition on a large area....

It reminds me of the Mona Lisa...Is she smiling ..? Do her Eyes follow you...What is her emotion..That kind of thing....

The military modelling fraternity is full of some scarily amazing artists.

very cool. Loved the water, but same thing, couldn\'t figure out the whole thing. I am guessing it\'s supposed to be somewhat symbolic?

no, I don\'t think it\'s meant to be anything profound, just like most paintings are just an image out of our heads, so everyone else can enjoy them too :D

My take on what is going on....

Norwegian Coastal guard is on a routine patrol, when he notices the tide is unusually high, knocking down the telegraph lines. Upon inspection, he notices an ancient tome, with strange writing and with a sense of forboding, he picks it up.

Meanwhile, something eldritch and ancient, now awake stirs in the background.

cool..
i see a home guard on beach patrol spotting the letters penned to a love one from someone fighting away from home.
he is captivated and moved as he realises the scenes of devastation around him have changed the writers homecoming forever and the fighting has reached home.:(
Or as a casual DIY\'er he\'s trying to figure out the instructions from Ikea that show him how to switch the damn water supply to the new shower unit off.:innocent:

I think it\'s obviously someone on holiday at Dover during the blitz, whos clearly annoyed about dropping his telegraph in the water.
He blames the germanic peoples.
