Progress! Phone pics away....
I re-shaded her jacket a bit and i will highlight her hair a tad more in certain areas. I also have to attach her left arm, her sword, and complete her base. All in all though I think she is turning out rather nice and close to the reference pic I used as I have not watched the show.
I've got a friend that is interested in painting and making these kits. I gave him the Black Cat kit I have to start with while the ones he has ordered arrive. So far he is enjoying himself.

Really nice Moe, the tones in the jacket are gorgeous certainly knocking these big kits out !
Something about Anime, I can't quite put my finger on.Thanks guys. She is mostly done now. I'll take some better pics soon, but here she is next to the reference pic. I think i was pretty close.

@Meph Thanks! Her skin was done in the rosey fleshtones from reaper, 9067, 9068 and 9069. It is the first time I have used them for actual flesh. Although they did come out a tad orange instead of "rosey" they do mix well together.
Zab's experimentation stuff has been influencing me to break out a bunch of the stuff I have sitting around and never tried. I have a bunch of weathering powders and bought some oil paints to try that method of shading to see if i liked it. I'm also trying to get a bunch of stuff i have half completed actually done.
That said I grabbed a base for one of the kits and started experimenting with it. If it came out all hookey I wouldn't care too much, It's just the base and nothing cures a screwed up paint job like a sonic bath in power purple
So first was the base coat:
I spilt some airbrush cleaner on the corner but it will cover when i use the oils.
Next was a coat of Gloss:
After it dried completely, I made the oil formula and painted the whole thing with it. I then grabbed the cheapy Q-tips and started cleaning with odorless mineral spirits.
Can you tell which side I did first?
And here it is drying out on a duct tape roll I used for a stand:
I've never mess with oil paints till this. Most people say this takes about 24 hours to dry, but it seems it is drying really fast. I' bought a pack of Georgian oil color from Daler Rowney. Anyone mess with that kind before? I've also found that "odorless" mineral spirits are not exactly odorless
Next I'll put a matte coat and do some weathering and highlights.

So i Did some dry brushing/painting on the base and highlighted it up. It looks "ok" to me. I think I am going to add some color to it.

Very nice Anime girl you have there Moetle! No wonder Japanese birthrates are way down if this is what the girls gotta measure up against! Interesting way of painting that base, it already has nice shading effects especially in the craters. Perhaps you could shade it around the crater edges a little more. Will be interesting to see it with some color on.
