Mold lines on head

Hello all,

What\'s the trick for removing mold lines on top of a mini\'s head? I can\'t seem to file them without compromising the texture of the hair. I\'m still a newb though, so maybe I just need more practice. :p

I share this dilema. I have a figure with quite bad mold line right across her hair. I\'m contemplating making a hat or headscarf for it out of greenstuff to cover over it. But wondering how a female jusicar in full armor and wielding a huge sword would look in a scarf.. maybe I should add rollers and call it \'bad hair day on the warfield\'

Hey, my current problem child is a female justicar too. Maybe we could start a trend. :p

I swear by an Xacto knife run along the lines. Either that or my finest file wrapped in 800 grit wet & dry emery paper slowly dragged along the hair lines. Might be necessary to add a little green stuff to repair the hair.
If all else fails.....Paint something else! :D

You can get it of any way you want but just fix it with green stuff afterwards. This starts you on the long and dangerous path of sculpting!

I\'m definitely with dragonsreach and Supervike, any bladed instrument should do quite well as long as it is good and sharp. Just remember to go slow so you don\'t shave off the hair! :flip::bouncy:

I find if you are gentle, you can put the blade in the crease of the hair and then move up over the ridge into the next crease, removing the flash/mold line as you go, whilst retaining the texture.

I am probably being repetitive...

But what the heck!

Scalpel blade works fine for me, but you have to ues one of the small, fine pointy ones, not the bone-saw variety:D
Alternatively, I use the edge of my favourite half-round needle file and cover a wider area than the mould line, blending as I go.
Greenstuff is great for adding extra features or covering up cock-ups;)

I tell you what I do....

I take them back to the manufacturer and say \"Give me a new one!\"

I did just that with a GW piece the other week. With a whole blister in fact.

Why do they insist on moulding in such a way that causes obvious lining? The last ones I bought had slipped slightly so I thought rather than go through the whole process of cleaning the mini for 3 days, it would be easier to exchange. The staff looked quite confused. He he!

The big firms really should look at production techniques and see if they can minimise the whole problem of mini-destroying mould lines. There will always be mould lines, but if planned properly, I\'m sure they could work it so that they aren\'t in the most annoying and damaging of places.

Hello Finn!
