I guess I prefer monsters, judging by what I buy, I had to make a consious effort to buy and paint humans to use in RPGs

What do Centaurs count as?

Lo those many years ago when I started painting, I started with monsters cause they were easier (aint that many of em walking around for compairison to the paint job) Now I would have to say I run about 50-50 although I tend to stay away from nasty cruel elvesses and hobbittiss by and large (no pun intended).

Have to have both

I have to paint people, so my monsters have something to scare (and eat!)

I actually have a good mix of both, and enjoy each for different reasons.

Monsters and humanoids

I have a large number of both. When I started during the D&D craze of the early eighties I had a small group of adventurers and started collecting hordes of monsters for them to fight. My dream was to have a monster for everything in the monster manual. I love large numbers of Orcs due to the Tolkien novels. Lately I\'ve been impressed by the human sculpts, particularly females, since creating a beautiful woman is more difficult than painting a rugged man. Monsters are much easier to paint. Wildlife creatures are cool to.:bouncy:

I am almost always with my wife when I buy minis and she prefers galant things like elves. Though sometimes I can sneak in a \"cute\" nurgling or squig.

The opposite of what I just finished.

I have a bad problem with burnout. If I just finished a project, be it one human or 5 dwarfs or something, I have to do something different the next time to arouse interest.

I just finished a diorama for a friend with a man and a mummy. Now I\'m looking out for something a bit meaner looking to paint.

By and large I stick to the humany things, dwarfs, humans and the occasional elf. I have yet to paint anything so large as a dragon. It\'s too big. I\'m sure I\'ll change my mind 10 times on the color before I ever finish. So even my mosters are kept smallish.

I found this old thread interesting.

I like to alternate humanoid character types with monsters (so far I exclusively paint fantasy genre).

I paint one mini at a time, so when I finish, the next one is a completely different type of mini and it is a bit like a breath of fresh air.

I don\'t know how people can paint regiments for wargames - I would be bored out of my mind painting the same thing over and over again, and the task would seem too daunting.

i like em all, if the sculpt has personaltiy and grabs my interest it doesnt matter if its a person, a monster or a machine.

yeah, this is a good topic. i tend to do a mix of both, more monsters than people though. variety is key.

mostly people.
As I try to convert many of mine to moderns, since there aren\'t any obvious monsters working construction or being lifeguards, that means I paint people.
I have monsters for variety though.
