Moonmin's Infamy Miniatures painting contest entry

As the title suggests, I will be painting an Uncle John bust from Infamy Miniatures as part of their current painting contest!

I primed him a week or so ago using Halfords grey card body primer. I took the opportunity to also undercoat two of my own miniatures: Creepy Mouth Monster and the so called "Evil" clown (resin casts are available!):

I ordered some wet palette paper from ebay, which thankfully arrived today! Here is the first WIP photo of my attempt. In the absence of an airbrush I applied the basic pre-shading using a paint brush:

I have since started to apply the foundation layers of colour, using the inlay card as a reference. Once all the basics are applied I will share another WIP.

Great model - I'll look forwards to seeing what you do with it. Nice sculpts too, although your 'creepy mouth monster' is rather.. erm, creepy.. !

I'm having great fun painting this bust. The basic colours are all blocked in and I have begun the long task of shading. Various purples and a little thinned out black seem to be working with the red areas, and oranges and browns so far on the yellow areas.

Just 7 days remaining on the Infamy Miniatures painting contest! There is still a lot of work remaining. In fact, it is just a little bit scary...

Yes, the bright colours look great. I love that he's looking at the parrot too, that's a really nice touch!

Thanks guys! One and a bit days in which to finish the birdy and his mechanical eye piece. The rest will have to be finished over the coming months. Flipping deadlines!!! :brb:

Here is my entry for the Infamy Miniatures painting competition:

Despite the deadline, it is not yet entirely finished. I'll be coming back to this piece over the coming weeks and months, refining the details on the animals, as well as adding highlights and making sure that the shading is just right.
