Well I \"listened\" to all of your listings.
Somewhat Nihilistic.

Yeah, I admit it it\'s true. Except for Amon Amarth Heaven Shall Burn and Napalm Death

The Beatles

All albums really but especially from Help! onwards.... never bettered and probably never to be repeated. Remastered versions in both mono and stereo have just been re-released too, so never a better time to listen :)

@Wiccanpony:

relax, you´re not the only one - i really like I´m fat and amish paradise

besides that i like a lot of music, mostly everything that has (electric ) guitars in it : punk ( greenday, beatsteaks, some german bands that are awesome ), grunge ( love the Nirvana unplugged album ), AC/DC, Iron Maiden, Nightwish occasionaly , foo fighters, Blind Guardian , dozends of other bands i´m to lazy to name lol

also some Movie scores, Johnny Cash, some Big Band sstuff , oldies, some electric music like zero 7 , i even got a record of HMS Pinafore ...

also i really like Medieval Music and one band in particular that mashes Rock and Medieval Music - in Extremo: The songs are mostly real Spells , Poems or incantations from the middle age, Baroque and Renaissance as well as lyrics written by the band, same goes for the music:

This one is a real Spell from the 10. century meant to cure animal, especially sick horses :

Merseburg Spells part 2

and something \"harder\" from the same guys:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IBDUZXo8gTA&feature=related

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i_Jf3Mk46_Q

the only thing i don´t like is death metal ( no offense, i really tried listen to it , it´s jut not my kind of music ) , rap, most hip hop stuff, techno and german folk music ( trust me you absolutely don´t wanna know)

@ Lizcam

Since then I\'ve listened to lots of stuff. I like metal and rock. I love a good guitar riff. Love the stones, grunge, Apocalyptica, old \'60\'s stuff.

Apocalyptica is great ! - If you enjoyed the singer from \" path 2 \" - she got her own band called \"Die Happy \"- nice Pop / Rock mixture

If you like metal, give Blind Guardian a try in case you haven´t heard from them yet - Melodic Metal with Fantasy Lyrics ( lord of the rings as metal song ! awesome guitar riffs ! ), theyre live albums are great:

Blind Guardian -
Majesty ( live )

@Dragonsreach:

wait until you heard Grindcore - i remember one album that was simply called \" to separate the flesh from the bones\" - a well choosen title :twisted:

@Roger Bunting: At least something with a little variation.
Everything I listened to had the same overstressed overworked vocalisation. To me it was and is a very limited sound.

@Chrome &Necroghast: Its not really a compliment.

@Farin: I\'ll pass, thanks.

@Wiccanpony: Weird Al Yankovic? ???

@Beezlebub: Not a huge fan, but still have several original Vinyl albums.

40+ years of buying music and I\'m still finding new stuff to listen to and enjoy.
Threads like this one are educational to say the least.

Death and black metal mostly, but other things go well with me, Im not a strict douchebag metal listener, because i dont listen to douchy metal heheh!
To namedrop: Cannibal Corpse (Mostly their older stuff, but the new stuff aint bad, because its cannibal!) Vader (Awesome, litany album with doc on drums... well, you are in for a treat) Mayhem (Pagan fears carnage deathcrush, what else can i say?) Darkthrone (Brilliant first few album, pretty awesome still but) Behemoth (I like thelema 6, not much else, but Christians to the lions ftw!) Ásmegin (Pretty cool folk, or pretty cool, they are really epic!) Akercocke (Fun band, what can i say, only listened to Goat of mendes, a good solid album) Windir (Crazy cool folk-black! singing in a very special norwegian dialect) Kataklysm (Good, good good! All albums hold a standard that only kataklysm can have!) Eternal lies (Only released one album, a shame really... all songs on it where bad ass though) Belphegor (Good stuff!) and you know the list could go all night, but the last one i need to introduce is the reason deathmetal is great Cryptopsy, well perhaps not now but they have some extreme albums, extreme to the limit of head explosion when you listen to it! Flo Mounier is the reason i play the drums, he is so freaking insane! and a talented bloke too!

So, that was the short version of the metal part.

Jazz- Jazz fusion (Kurt elling, Mats morgan band, you know, just jazz!)
Progressive Rock (Rush, Focus, Jethro Tull, Gentle giant... sweet stuff!)
Billy Bragg (Goes in his own genre, bloody brilliant!)
and a swedish bloke named Cornelis Vreeswijk... he is, well, sort of the national treasure in sweden i think.

And you know the classics, zeppelin Acdc Kansas Journey queen boston and all of that stuff, but that doesnt seem important because everyone likes those guys. I mean not one party, where someone has put on journey have gone bad.

Nice stuff there.

and @ Dragonsreach: Yeah I have fully accepted that not everyone is gonna like it. But you do at least have to admit that they are skillful musicians.

Avelorn\'s post was solid. Also, listen to Born Ruffians (if you like Tokyo Police Club or Vampire Weekend especially), Crystal Stilts (if you\'re a Joy Division fan or a Velvet Underground...er), Electric Wizard (if you\'re into metal or smoke da herb), Washed Out (lo-fi synth jams, real groovy to chill to), Phoenix (if you are into the Strokes or MGMT or want some good indie pop) and lastly... the Pains of Being Pure at Heart (for some retro-sounding indie rawk).

My taste seems to be a lighter than some of you.
I generally have LastFM on at work all day and I like picking an idea and finding new artists.

Found George Winston the other day - really nice.

Last few weeks at work my playlists have been:
Stuff like Seether in the morning, and then Stuff like instrumental Piano in the afternoon.

I like Giovanni Allevi, and stuff like that - just love piano.

Most days are things like Ben Folds, Counting Crows etc, mixed with some Beach Boys, some Jack Johnson, a little Ry Cooder, then maybe a little Kubb and some Fountains of Wayne, Third Eye Blind and a little Matchbox 20. Maybe some Chilli Peppers, Verve Pipe, Bare Naked Ladies (ok - so way too nineties), not forgetting a little Shatner to lighten the mood - in all good stuff to code to during the day.

Generally I like things cheerful sounding (musically, not necessarily lyrically) and I love piano and acoustic guitar.

Recently discovered Mystery Repeats and really like it.

I used to listen to Jazz FM, and an internet Blues station - so I\'m pretty happy with anything that\'s not trying to shout at me and make my ears bleed.

No I don\'t. lollollollol

I\'ll admit to them being fast accurate and controlled guitarists, but skilfull.... I\'ll have to reserve judgement as I have seen no evidence of any variety which would suggest that to me.

HOWEVER, It\'s your taste in music and please by all means enjoy it to the full.
