More about yourself.....MUSIC!

Trevor

Brushlicker and Freak!
Pretty much anything with a guitar in it: rock, pop, indie, industrial, goth, pop punk; quite a bit of dance; it would be easier to say what I don\'t like, generally not a fan of RnB and rap, opera, but there are some exceptions.

Currently I\'m liking stuff like the Killers, The Music, that sort of thing.

my music depends on my mood and where i am,

at home, i mostly listen to industrial, ebm, synthpop and other electronic genres...
(projekt pitchfork, vnv nation, Funker Vogd)

when going out i usually go to local metal café, playing mostly (classic) heavy metal
(iron maiden, slayer, that sort)

when going to goth parties (yes, another goth on the forum) i tend to enjoy noize (or digital hardcore) more than anything else.
(suicide commando, combichrist, Xotox)

but in the right setting, i will enjoy myself with most types of music (just not too dutch)

No I don\'t. lollollollol

I\'ll admit to them being fast accurate and controlled guitarists, but skilfull.... I\'ll have to reserve judgement as I have seen no evidence of any variety which would suggest that to me.

HOWEVER, It\'s your taste in music and please by all means enjoy it to the full.

Why thank you!
I can see why people think there isnt variety because of the vocals... But after listening to it for a while I can hear the differences. Also, I think the vocals fit really well with the music itself, it lets the guitars and stuff set the tune rather than the vocals which allows the musicians to showcase what they can do. To be honest, I often think of the vocals as percussion...

However, and this is to everyone, watchthis video and read the lyrics at the same time.
It is so epic, this is exactly what I thought of when I first heard the song, and the music (lyrics too) are synced with the video PERFECTLY! It\'s awesome!

I\'m a rock and metal man, all the old school - ac/dc, maiden, motorhead, metallica, zeppelin, judas priest, megadeth, g\'n\'r, etc but i also like classical, enya/clannad type folk, a bit of country and western (thanks dad), 60\'s, 70\'s, 80\'s and some 90\'s pop.

I hate hip hop, rap, rave with every inch of my soul, anyone puts that shite on my stereo and I like have to get a catholic priest in to exorcise it and give it a blessing to cleanse the demonic filth away.

Pretty varied taste on the whole, I am a little bit more open to stuff like jazz if its live music.

Well my favorite music genre is Minimalism and Classic. Most people don´t like this kind of music, but i think you should check it out. Some artists to mention would be: \"Yann Tiersen\", \"Yanni\", \"Thomas Newman\", \"Chopin\", \"Mozart\".

Like you, i also dislike rap music and hip hop in general. I think it has a bad effect on younger people.

What about the hip hop group, the flobots, who are well known fore encouraging political activism and freedom of thought?

Music isnt bad at all, its creative and sometimes have social commentary and satire. But unfortunately people have started to censor our music, some might say its good pr to have parental advisory on their albums but its also an infringement upon freedom of speech. Sometimes its filled with what people call bad language, which is crap because its a way of expressing oneself... Ofcourse this is only if you listen to the lyrics, which is not the biggest part of music. To actually be creative is not a negative influence on kids, to think for themselves and decide, perhaps even become politically active or some type of activitiy rather then sitting like a drone following the stream!

I dont know, i think music whatever genre is great, its just some bands that are garbage (in my opinion) and some that are good. But because you dont like it (parental advisory) does not make it right for you to try make it dissapear, same thing with TV, but im not that affected with it because swedish tv is not censored.

The bad effect people talk about is one in a million and the kid must have been screwed up before. To do what is called \"horrible things\" because you listened to some record or track, is nonsense, it have never happened! And people who do, they are you know, wierd from the start.
I am very passionate about freedom of speech, have been for all my years in life. Its mainly because of music, i am \"extreme metal\" and some of my lyrics would have gotten parental advisory on the spot hehe. But its the hypocrisy in it all, well, i should not be ranting on this subject really.

music is good!! long live music!

The parental advisory sticker has got nothing to do with freedom of speech or censorship - quite the contrary.

The only purpose of the sticker is to infrom parents that their children are about to purchase something that they (the parents) should - maybe - check out before they allow their kids to buy and listen to it.

In these days where kindergarten kids call the staff whores and bitches I think it´s quite a good idea tbh.

As a way of helping parents make decisions and take responsibility - I´m all for it.

Even with the controversy these threads inspire I love them. I\'ve listened to everything anyone linked and found most of them good. Thanks guys!

@Jahminis: I don\'t hate your taste in music by any means. They are all classics and I like them. I\'m just TIRED of them. I can probably quote the lyrics to every James brown and Bob Marley song for you. I needed to broaden my horizons a bit. ;)
