Hey everyone. I haven\'t been posting much lately, but I have been paintg a lot. Unfortunately I can\'t show you my CCV entries, or the almost finished High Elf cavalry I\'m doing, but at least I have painted up this beastlord. I have to say I\'m really into metallics after the Paint Aid ogre.

Thank you guys :)

I really enjoyed painting this guy. I like the pose, and I have actually been longing for real metallics for quite a while, so it was nice to get a chance to have another go at it.

hm what a coincidence, just saw it after klikcing at \"browse gallery\", already commented and voted on it :)

I voted and comented. I do have one question for you Anja, is there anything painting-wise that you can not do? You NMM is some of the best out there and your metalics are just as good.

There\'s no need to chose, is there? :]
Quite so, but it seems to me that CMON works by trends. Snow bases were way big last year, OSL is pretty sought after, and when we started Paint Aid many were unhappy that we were excluding NMM. Basically, I don\'t care what technique is used, as long as the artist comes up with something original and breathtaking ;).

It does seem that metalics are making a come back. I\'ve seen a couple of mettlaics article pop up latly. And a good number of great artist (anja included ) seem to be using metalics again. So 2005\'s trend will be ... metalics :p

Oh and great job anja. How did you do the rust ? Dragonsreach seems to be swearing by your way of doing but I haven\'t found the recepy. Maybe you could do an article :innocent:

thanks for you kind words people :)

The rust is actually really easy to do: paint Scorched Brown on the metal (which should be shaded and highlighted and washed properly before the rust is applied) in a random shape, drybrush Vermin Brown on top of that, then stipple on Fiery Orange. Wash the whole metal area with Bestial Brown. You can let the paints be quite thick to give it a textured look.

Oh, and on the \"is metallics the new black?\" I think it may be the case, although I don\'t see why one would have to choose? I like everything: metalics/NMM, Vallejo/Citadel, Rackham/GW/Warmachine/etc...there\'s no need to limit oneself to just one style.

:)

I was actually swearing AT it at point. :D
It is a great way to achieve a \'realistic\' rust effect and I will be expecting to see some examples coming up on other peoples work. Personally I will be reserving it for specific miniatures. Typhus for example.
