Today I\'ve experienced a true moment of happiness but I have to give you some background.
My Mom died back in 1987 and the age of 47 from breast cancer. When she died it fell to me to sort out her stuff and make sure everyone got what she/they wanted. Among her stuff were 3 sealed boxes, one for each child. It had looked like she had gone through stuff and packed up these boxes thinking she might not make it. I\'ve never opened mine.
My family stopped celebrating birthdays when I was 8 because my parents joined a cult. I never really knew when my parents birthdays were. I know my brothers because in secrect we would wish each other happy birthday even if we weren\'t supposed to. It was a naughty little secret we kept between just us.
Today I was cleaning the last few boxes out of my closet, going through them and sorting out the ex\'s stuff from mine. I came across this box from my mom and opened it. I\'m sitting here in tears now because of what was inside.
There is my baby book and baby pictures. There\'s also my Mom\'s baby book and her Mom\'s baby book. There are clippings, report cards and various momentos from my Mom\'s school days including her diploma and various state and nationwide awards she won for music and drama. Pictures of her and my dad as homecoming king and queen.
Then there is her birth certificate. I read the date. She was born 69 years ago.....TODAY!
