Never had a problem with freezer burn either - just chuck food into a dubba (such as a Chinese plastic tub or foil container), let cool and pop it in! I do think that food can be left for too long in a freezer - 1yr+ I'd not be very happy with eating it :s I do seem to freeze lots of food though - cooking for one is actually quite difficult...

i hear ya! i'm in the same boat. thing is i like to try new stuff but if i do, i tend to end up wasting ingredients if i don't plan very well. i also make stuff like curry and mince in batches so i can freeze the left overs and have quick ready meals when i can't be arsed. i use the left over takeaway containers too but decant and just cling film them once frozen to make more space

My salad spinner. I know it seems a bit odd but when my ex wife made her list of you get I get during the divorce she listed the $400+ kitchen aid mixer as equal to my salad spinner. Do you think I got ripped off? Well I know that when the power goes off I can still use my salad spinner.

Probably the Insinkerator in my new kitchen. How did I live without it? Flick all peelings and random bits of kitchen waste into the sink, turn on the tap and push a button. Ace.

Cabinets/countertop count?

Did a total redo of the kitchen a couple of years ago.

Most expensive tool outside of the wife would be my grill/smoker.

@airhead, looks like a nice kitchen
Thanks, it is a mixture of my work and a few contractors.
We took it down to bare studs on this side. Replumbed, rewired, eliminated the 70's style lowered ceiling.
The floor tile I had done a few years before.
New cabinets (this I paid to have someone that knew what they were doing.)
New countertops (I paid to have this done as well.)

The only appliance in it's original location is the dishwasher. Everything else got shuffled.
10 times the functionality as before. And way more usable cabinet space.
