Mottled gold?

Has anyone got any tips or ideas on how to get the gold effect with real metalics?

This is less pronounced but would probably work too.

I\'ve tried a couple of times and stuffed it up. The spots were too obvious and didn\'t work with the rest of the gold at all.

I would probably stipple on the spots with a mix of the gold colour in question and a dark brown. Then I would apply a lot of glazes over it, first with matte paints and then with metallic paints.

I haven\'t tried this, though. It\'s just the first thing I would try if I was to do it myself.

I\'d approach it like this too probably. Purples would definitely get a look in too - both stippled and glazed.

Stippling was actually the first thing I tried but I think I may have been a bit heavy handed with it. I\'ll give it another go.

The idea is to \"soften\" the look of the spots by applying glazes over them.
