Boy QoC, I think that we\'ve gotten off on the wrong foot.

I think what I found disrespectful and inappropriate about your \"critique\" was that you did ***not*** offer it in an attempt to be helpful. Your remarks were formatted as \'put downs\' and presented deliberately in a style attempting to come across as more knowledgeable about a subject towards someones work who is a beginner.
I think that this is the problem. I am critiquing your work as if you have more experience in editing. And that is why were coming off like cats and dogs. I apologize.
Your alleged studies in film certainly explain why you felt superior in this regard.
Alleged?!? I hope not! The $50,000 in student loans doesn\'t feel alleged. =)

Yes I did watch the video to the end, credits included, several time btw, because I enjoyed it. And the reason for the question on which program you used I think came from the Font used (tracking, or is it kerning) and my bad eyesight. Your choice of music and the subject (my view being the model) are choice. In a attempt to help you grow in the art of video making/ editing, I attempted to channel the spirit of several of my teachers and give a honest critique of the work, all of which you can take or ignore. I\'m just trying to be helpful, and wish no evil.

\"Toys from the pram?\" Do I really want to know?
I do hope that you enjoy the Con QoC, it does sound like it will be quite fun.

...nearish to Denton

I\'m staying in the Farmers Branch area, which north of Dallas and about 25 to 30 miles SE of Denton. I just drove up to Reaper over the weekend to say hi to folks (Jeremie got in early to give some private lessons to folks -- so I dropped in for a half hour).

Are you going to be in town for the Con ?

...the apology is mine to give

@ mud duck: You are perhaps more insightful than I. Yes, the wrong foot and unnecessarily so. I am plagued sometimes with my own beliefs of supposed self-importance and \"bigness\".

They say it\'s okay to have the hype around you, ....as long as you don\'t start believing your own hype.

Please accept my apologies for the display of intemperate behavior. Tsk, tsk. I must now go gather up all my toys that I\'ve thrown all over my nursery in the course of my royal temper tantrum fit.

Okay, so where were we? More pictures of Jeremie\'s other miniatures other than the Grallapoussah. Hmmmmm. Those could go in the huge black screen area between the last ReaperCon title frame and the \"smoochy\" photo of the groupie-queen getting presented with the mini from the artist. Maybe a frame with the title that says, \"Reaper\'s Got Talent !\" ... or some such would tie the idea better together.

How about that?

\"Reaper\'s Got Talent!\"

Love it!
Maybe add a shot a Sophie, I personally like the new pencil drawing on the Con model (the noseart one). Think that it may add to the gestalt of the piece. Oh and maybe add Jeremy\'s rate on CMoN, I didn\'t know that until you pointed it out.

Flipping heck...that took some reading.

The way I see it QoC said any criticism was welcome, Mudduck then mentioned some pretty valid points (of which I agree with, shame on me, and I am pretty much your target market) and now QoC is throwing her toys out of the pram.

If you can\'t take the heat don\'t post things openly asking for criticism. If all you want is your ego stroking then just ask I\'m sure people will oblige, you being a Queen and all.

(And I\'v checked through for spelling mistakes, so you can save yourself the trouble of patronisingly picking it apart word by word.)

Grow up and have a drink!

Wow...I couldn\'t have said it better myself. Glad to see the issue appears to be resolved though.

I personally love QoC\'s website and enjoyed the video, but I have a lot of respect for muddy too. Would hate to see lasting enmity over such an little thing.

Wish I were still planning on attending ReaperCon this year. I am enjoying the new job that snatched that prospect out from under me though so I guess all\'s well that ends well. There\'s always next year.

lasting enmity versus the 24 hour kind

quoting mattrock, \"...Would hate to see lasting enmity over such an little thing....\"

@ mattrock: I\'m not into \"lasting enmity\", simply short fits of indignity--followed by either bursts of reason and remorse if folks are lucky or tortured essays espousing How the World should work according to Me, if folks are not. lol

We should not take ourselves so seriously. Myself included.

...hey...I just noticed an icon I could have used, but missed..... ----> :cussing:

...for my next time then.

.... ahem ...and to my other critic who spell checked their post, ...the word is \"patronize\" with a \"z\" not an \"s\" (giggle) (couldn\'t resist. ..... I\'m just kidding this time !! )

Mud duck gets the points and wins the round because he didn\'t let my hen cackling get under his skin. And now he\'s shamed me into the position of actually wanting to re-edit the darn video to see what I can do to improve it.

cut to close-up of Kirk\'s face, red, and shaking his fist to the empty sky above, Khannnnnnnn!!!!!!

...excuse, I have to go find him now to pick his brain. :D

insert a great deal of black screen here. Hum some music simultaneously.

The Padewan to Obi Wan

@ Mud duck: The problem with the font on the end of the trailer is a combination of 2 things. First, the default setting for You Tube is called Crap Resolution. The original .avi file created by Adobe Premiere Elements has nice crisp font letters. But the default You Tube play back quality turns the letters to fuzzy mush. There is a \"high quality\" play back setting (just under the You Tube screen) one can click and use if your computer will support it. The play back quality is noticeably improved and sharp.

Try that. It is mind blowing in difference.

The second problem in the credits being unreadable is the film director\'s inexperience. The font perhaps could have been larger and, as another viewer mentioned, I have them scroll by too fast to read. And, I got the underscore button turned on where it is supposed to be turned off. So that adds visual confusion on top.

So it\'s a combination of directorial error and the playback technology that leave the credits wanting (as I look at it).

Ahem Patronise is spelt with a \"S\" in the UK.............After all it is the Queen\'s English. lol

According to the Oxford English Dictionary it can be spelled patronize or patronise, with no distinction that either are US or UK, unlike cheque and check (Queen\'s English and US English respectively).

I hope that your planing to get us a lot of new shots of the Con. That way you don\'t have to re work this piece you can just start a new bigger and better one. Huzzah!

I have to give you credit for one thing, that some frst times fall prey to, again channeling the spirit of my teachers, you didn\'t use every transition in the program. For that I\'m thankful, stick with the fade-out and the simple cut and we will not have a problem :D

Oh, and one question. The shot with the model in the case, there a guy/ogre with a flag that looks like he\'s part of the model/display. Or was that something else?

Lans Quenelle de Barback

Ahhhhhhhhh. The Ogre Maneater, Lans Quenelle de Barback
Here is the CMON link to the piece: http://www.coolminiornot.com/123491

It is another piece by Jeremie, separate from the Grallapoussah , but part of what he said was an intended series. Like the Grallapoussah (France Games Day 2005, Diorama category), his Ogre Maneater also won him a Golden Demon plus a slayer sword. (Canada Games Day 2006, Warhammer Large Model Category). I\'ve seen that piece in person as well, and it\'s likewise delicious. Had the option of adding it to my collection but opted instead for a selection of some other of Jeremie\'s pieces, including his Golden Demon 1st place Chicago Games Day 2007 Arwen on Horse ..... Alas, even the \"queen\" cannot have everything she wants just because she wants it .... Decisions, decisions.

Jeremie is on CMON under handle \"Bragon\" if you\'d like to see more of his incredible art. It\'s not human, I tell you.
