Mud effect bases?

Hi,
Ive been trying to think of a way to base my Empire Army. I have decided to do a wet, sloppy trampled muddy battleground look. I know there is a \"mud\" tutorial here but it seems to be a dusty dry look, I am looking for a wet soggy look.

Any ideas?

i suggest making a slurry of glue with some flock (the more glue the more gooy it will come out, and the more layers you will need to out down on the base). slather it on the base , let it cure, and paint it. gloss varnish helps with mud/slime too.

If you have an extra pair of feet, cut the slotta off and use them to \"trample\" some green stuff on each base :)

Don\'t know about you NSA, but when I was born I only came with one pair.

plaster of paris, a bit of resin and dirt pigments that are used for weathering.

the quicker method (doesn\'t look as good tho) is weathering powders mixed with varnish and then paint it on wherever you need the mud.

hope that helps. :)

i tend to use either putty or filler and then paint it the appropriate browns (or probably not as i am colour blind!!). then add a bit o gloss varnish after dull coating the mini. bear in mind that when adding mud to the bottom of trousers, robes etc, the mud is darker at the bottom where it it wetter:
