Multitasking (Dang you Billy)

When Billy picked this one, I had no idea for about two weeks what I was going to do with this theme. Eventually I was rooting around my minis and came across these. They are Familiars of Air from Rackham. Then it hit me. Two of them are just the right height and position to be reading what the other is holding. Then it hit me... \"STUDY BUDDIES!!!\"

Anyhoo, here are the first WIP photos:

Clearly there is much left to do with them.
On the Red one:

- HIs belt and pouch haven’t even been touched
- The sides of the scroll need some more shadow
- The blending on the top of his noggin needs smoothing
- His curly cue needs to be touched as well, but I have no idea what color that will be

On the Green one:

- The NMM on the book has just been roughed in
- The teeth haven’t been touched yet
- Need to fix the magnifying lens to where it was before I f***ed it up
- The purple shadows need some more variation in tone and better smoothing into the green

Any comments or ideas are more than welcome.

P.S. Isn\'t it alot easier to photograph with a coloured background in place as opposed to photoshopping one in afterwards? I guess it would be hard to find a black background that would photograph like that pic but a t-shirt, pillow case, bed sheet, towel or anything black would be fairly close. Everyone has a black or blue piece of linen in the house, almost everyone anyway. Or you can print out coloured or faded backgrounds and take pics on the and in front of the piece of paper, if you want a colour to white transition or gradation. I just always wonder why people take so much time with filling in backgrounds when they aren\'t using some sort of picture they want to place their figure in.

You need a pyramid of Krush cans in the corner of the Demon Dorm, with some Naughty Demon porn mags under the mattresses. Bunch of pizza boxes, various articles of clothing strewn about and maybe a computer that\'s on CMON\'s front page.

Sorry about the sizr but it\'s the best I could do without having the mini yet.

He\'s going to be fighting a drunken scottish bar brawler wielding 2 broken bottles while swilling barrels of booze. Multitasking?


Yes. Drinking and fighting. Still haven\'t figured out what to call it. Have the bar brawler half done but at that ugly not finished shading the skin point so I won\'t post a pic yet.

@Quiet: That is the background color. Its part of my light tent setup. In fact, the only PS work on these was cropping and resizing. I didn\'t even play with the levels.

@liz: AYe a taste of his own medicine! But two hard ones in a row would likely kill me.

@Peg: For the background its just going to be a black marble round base made from cork and Apoxie Clay. (Its actually done and I haveto say I am very pleased with how it turned out.

I don\'t know what is up with the shine. They are the same paints I always use but the red dude is all shiny. AH well, thats what dullcote is for.
