Music listening while painting

Actually death metal / black metal voices are often considered as part of the instrument by giving most of the rythm, at least my 2 cent interpretation by not understanding much of what they sing even if knowing the general context...
I am also interested in a cheap source of audibooks? It seems to be interesting to paint by listening a book at the same time!

Vocals are an instrument, it's just another layer within the song (it's all notes man)

It really depends on if I'm painting Individual models or groups and how fast I'll be painting them. If I'm painting something in groups I'm more likely to listen to Folk/ Viking/ Epic/ Power metal, such as Turisas, ElvenKing, Tyr, Hammerfall, Blind Guardian, Alestorm, etc... If I'm painting something for someone in detail and it's just that one model Then I lean towards Instumental Hip-Hop of or bands that put a slightly modern but chill Twist on Traditional instuments like the Yoshida Brothers or Gods of Shimasen.

Hmm, mostly I will put on a video and sit in front of the PC. I like stand-up comedy the most and often put on

Eddie Izzard / Dylan Moran / Will Ferrel / Robin Williams / Kat Williams and let them play, for something to listen to that gives me a smile

for music I would put on an album and probably let it repeat if I am really loving it. This allows me to focus more. I have done this with

Mumford and Sons / Radiohead / Coldplay / John Mayer / Adele / Beck / Santana / Jeff Buckley / Fleet Foxes / Band Of Horses / Arcade Fire but for music I think nothing beats Pink Floyd

For TV series', I would put something on that I don't want want to closely watch (Game of Thrones / Band of Brothers are too good to not watch attentively) so I would instead put on old stuff like

The Office (UK) / Black Books / Blackadder / Hale and Pace / Southpark / Beavis and Butthead / Saturday Night Live and even watched the entire run of 'The Wire' while painting.

I cant get into death metal and would find it impossible to concentrate, but that's just me.

Depends on how you look at it, Black Library books are extortionate for what they are, www.audible.co.uk & www.Audible.com offer membership which reduces costs down to £3.99 per book which gives, for an unabridged version, 10-12 hours of listening (if not more).
Librivox does have a good set of books in the public domain, but read by amateurs and regretfully sometimes an American Accent trying to do a British Plummy Uppercrust accent................Sorry Misses the Mark guys.

I guess I'm the only one that listens to talk radio. Two guys in particular, one is John bachelor during the week for the two hours I paint before bed. He covers everything, economics, science, space exploration, Mideast, china and Asia, history, and of course politics throughout the world. He is often way ahead of The news curve. The other guy I listen to is an economist on Saturday's. After that it's pandora for music.
I will defenitly give audio books a try my public library has a huge selection to loan for free.

I really like listening to podcasts like D6G (which I strongly recommend, I think its the best podcast about Tabletop and Boardgames). Sometimes movies but rather TV series, though not the best ones, rather mediocre stuff like Terra Nova or Falling Skies, since they don t deserve my full attention and never get good enough to make your focus switch from painting to watching.
