Looks good so far. Try darkening much more on the tops of the rocks and the top of the poor fellow in the lava.

UM...WOW! That is really looking stellar.

It may be easier for people to see it like this though....

They are made out of green stufff. I\'ve used various methods from the articals here on Cmon and also Silphids tutorial which you can find here: http://www.hobbyhawk.com/MagmatraxTutorial.html

Ah yeah sorry the lack of an image. I couldn\'t figure it out. :) It was staring me in the face and i couldn\'t see it. oh well , silly me. I hope this works. :)

Instead of linking to the submission, you need to link to the actual .jpg image...I just right click on the pic, copy the properties and insert with the thingy...

EDIT...you can also just click on \'edit\' on my post (the one with the pic) to see what I have used as HTML. You can\'t change anything, but it makes it easier to figure out what to use....lol

The lava is looking good! Like the sculpting and the painting a lot. Not so sure about the lighting effect(?) on the armour, looks a bit too pronounced for me, you just want a suggestion of it to show, more of a glow than a spotlight kind of thing.

@ provoke_me the outer crust is made from milliput and the rolling lava and bubbles is greenstuff.

@ Einion. I hoped someone would comment about that. I tried to get it to look a red/white hot armour but it kept turning a pinkish on me :( so i decided to try the the yellow/white. Its to show the heat of the lava almost melting it and not really as a light source. Anyone got a suggestion how to get a red hot colour? Maybe i could get away with it as one stage before it gets to red hot? I shall be applying the light source on the armour next. Thanks for that Einion.

The lava is looking really nice! :)

I\'m also having problems with the lighting effect on the armour of the marine. It\'s a bit too pronounced and too abrupt. Also, I\'m unsure if there should be as much red in the reflections. Green surfaces would not reflect red light. So maybe the reflections should be more yellow and white and less red? Someone will probably know more about this than I do, though...

Still, the sculpting is really nice and I like the idea with the marine sinking into the lava. :) The lava also looks really hot!

Hi Ritual. I haven\'t actually painted any light sources on the marine yet. The yellow is the armour heated up to an extreme temp. I figured that the stages of burning would be: White (hot, hot, hot) followed by a yellow (hot, hot) then red (hot). The next stage shows the bare metal followed by black (burnt paint) then brown(burning paint) and finally the actual armour colour, green. I think i need to sort out his right upper shin as it doesnt look like its has hot as his knee pad. I also still needs to make the yellow more smooth. well, i still need to do alot of things. :) Thanks for all your encouraging comments and advice. :)

I love it. Great work on the lava, it looks really realistic... and good idea with the heating up of the metal.
The only thing I\'d say is the hottest parts would be the stuff falling into the lava. The other pieces, such as the kneepads and shoulderpads, probably wouldn\'t get as white hot since they aren\'t near-submerged.
I really like this guy. :)

My first thoughts is that the lava is amazing and is really well done. I get what your trying to do with the heated armor, but i think you need to lose the paint on the armor as paint would well flake off/burn off. A marines armor is made of Ceramite, so basically if you want a reference picture go look for space shuttle re-entry photos and look at the ceramic tiles on the under side of it. That should give you an idea of what you need i think.

@ Hi-lite-r Yeah, thats worth having a look at, thanks.

Yup, i aggree Katana_Angel I will be toning down the shoulders and knee pad

@No probs Ritual ;) Your the second person to think that (including Einion)) so at the moment is not clear enough of whats going on. Maybe once i do more work on it, it will become more apparent. Thanks all.

@ Hi-lite-r Good idea I found this and i think i can work from it. Cheers for that. i hope this works.
