ive been to a few smaller events, but ive decided to go to my first con in the big city! genghis con!
anyhow, they have a mini painting comp, and i might as well dive in. i dont have much experience with competitions, so i was hoping that those of you who have experience with judged events could give me some tips.

right now im stuck on mini selection (its an open comp, so anything goes). i've been prepping one that i enjoy, but im worried that it may be missing some elements that the judges would like to see (a face). how worried should i be?
thanks for the help.

I'm far from an expert on such things, but the a good sculpt always helps. if you are talking something from the Gehenna line by pegaso you're also probably fine those are all really good sculpts

Basically we can't give you a specific answer as judges cannot be tied down to a decision of what is a good mini on the day.
Have a look at the competitions themselves and see if any of them are being sponsored by a specific manufacturer. It might be that a specific line of mini's are in their own category because of that, so you can Target that comp.
Otherwise just paint your B*ll*cks off and do the best you can with the mini YOU are most confident you can do the best job on.

Dwight ;- Yep a good sculpt (and casting) is always helpful,.......BUT not everyone likes specific lines so specifiying one range over another is just your personal opinion.
Personally I think the Pegaso Gehenna range are awful, so remember "one mans meat is anothers poison", and judges no matter how hard they try will still find themselves influenced by their own likes & dislikes.

thanks for the advice DR.
i suppose ill have to select a mini that allows me to showcase my strenths, whatever i think those might be, rather than a mini to please the judges.
