My first go at nmm

Having spent an age admiring the seemingly superhuman efforts of others on this site I finally bit the bullet and had a go at nmm for myself on Mengil Manhide\'s Standard Bearer.

I\'m pretty amazed at how fun, rewarding and un-daunting it was once I put in a bit of thought into it and read a few tutorials.

The concentration I used on the metal seems to have rubbed off on the rest of the mini too as he has the best face and skin I\'ve ever done and I quite like the rotting green of the flayed human skin too (I also tried to act on all the critique I got in my Nid Attack thread so hopefully you folks who commented on that can see that your advice was useful!).

I think he’s easily my best single mini to date, but obviously I’m here to improve so if you fine folks wouldn’t mind sending some feedback my way it would be excellent.

Cheers

ack!

I can\'t give you any suggestions, as you are clearly head and shoulders above any thing I could paint, but I can give unadulterated praise!!

Good job!! I really like it.

Voted and commented on this peice.

And you said you were daunted by some of these techniques? ;)
I think you ought to try some others, you seem to have done an outstanding job!!

That looks really nice! The NMM is good, especially the gold. The mini in its entirety is solid and well painted. The steel on the shoulder guard seems a bit rough in its blending, but otherwise everything seems smooth. I see you\'ve concentrated your highlights to a specific direction, which I suggested earlier. :) I think that paid off on this mini!

Thank you for your kind comments folks. I do have to say that I think photographing it with a decent lighting set up and camera has made the nmm look a little better than perhaps some of you are saying (It\'s the gradient background that adds that touch of class too!) but I\'m still very happy with the rest of the mini anyway!

Now I just need my Rackham order to arrive, then I can try some more. Where\'s that damned postman?
