It was suggested that I post here (at least, I hope this is the right spot) in order to get feedback, suggestions, advice, etc. on my first mini.
I would like to point out a few things:
1. This was done with really cheap acrylics (both in price and quality). Even after thinning, the paint comes out looking “chalky”. I’ve ordered some better paints, so my future minis will be done with those and hopefully that will help a bit.
2. I made a mistake in painting the hair last. Some of the paint hit the flesh tones that I had already painted, so I tried to cover those spots as best as I could. Of course, I didn’t keep track of which colors I had mixed for the flesh tone (something I’ll do in the future), so I had to guess and hope that I got close enough; I didn’t always get it right.
3. It’s kind of bland (no real contrasts or vibrant colors - still learning about mixing paints to get certain colors) and not very original or imaginative.
4. There are mold lines because I hadn’t gotten my files from MicroMark yet.
5. I’m still learning about how to base miniatures, so I haven’t done anything with this one other than a coat of paint.
6. I don’t have any metallic paints (and there’s no way I’m good enough to do NMM yet), so it’s a kind of whitish-gray.
7. I really need to practice shading, highlighting, etc.
8. The camera I used is someone else’s since mine doesn’t have a macro setting and I\'m not quite used to it or photographing minis, so they’re not the greatest. Apologies for that.
