My first post/AKA help with nurgle

First I\'d like to say Hi, This is my first post here, normally i frequent 40konline.com but as I only ever visit the painting and conversion forums, i thought I might be more at home here!

and now on to my question, I\'ve just started a nurgle WHFB army, and i\'ve decided on a colour scheme, I\'m really trying to achieve the effect seen on the defiler over at daemonic aura kind of a \"dirty bone\" effect.

I can paint bone to a high standard as I have had an ulthwe eldar force for a long time, the trouble i\'m having is with \"nurglefying\" it. any suggestions guys??

welcome! i can\'t see the dirty bone effect you are looking for. i would suggest painting the bone as normal but keep it darker. maybe add a little green (as for anything nurgle)

bloody nice paint job that! shame about some mould lines (on the cannon especially). i can\'t tell if there is green in that mix (i\'m brown-green colour blind!). i think the trick is to keep it dark around the edges and make it looka little blotchy

Well the way I do dirty bone is to start with a black under coat. I then do about 4-5 layes of Snake bite. Then mix in some bone and go form there. If you leave some black then snake bite it looks real ratty. Then highlight up to white if need be. Dont have a pic as yet although if you look on page 17 of WIP3 you will see my rhinox horn is done in this fashion.

BTW welcome. Everyone finally makes it home. Shane your doing Nurgle but hopefully you\'ll get over that (IMHO Nurgle is the only power of chaos I dont like)

Ditto, thats why I\'m doing it.

this might seem like an odd line of resoning, but what I mean is, I don\'t like the way everyone ELSE does nurgle, so i\'m gonna do it my way and hopefully gain some fans.

I\'m a bit fed up of all the fat, bloated nurgle champions, i prefer the emaciated, mysterious look of the mounted nurgle lord mini (almost like a ringwraith) just an indication of disease being not only the foul pus filled buboes but the silent killers like cancer... apologies if this makes no sense but it\'s hard to translate whats in my head into a language anyone else can understand

That sounds really cool. I get that idea really well, it\'s a neat one.
