hey, This is my first ever completely sculpted model. I would appreciate any feedback you guys can give on sculpting. This guy is going to be a dark angel space marine when I\'m threw. Thanks

I\'m not a sculptor so I can\'t offer advice, just support. This is looking good, specially the feet.

Keep it up.

For a first try its pretty good.

Here are a few things (in no particular order) that need some fixing IMHO :

1) proportions : you should first bulk out the flesh under the armor to make sure it\'ll look believable (as believable as a Space Marine can be of course ;)). For instance, the armor seems too thin on the bottom part of the legs;

2) you should work more on smoothing out the armor. It takes a hell of a lot of time, but the end result is always worth it. A shaper is a useful tool for this :

3) The proportions for your armature concerning the arms seems odd. When making an armature try matching the proportions with an anatomy drawing;

4) Try working with a consept sketch to plan out in advance what you plan on sculpting. It\'ll help avoid most errors.

Good luck with the rest and keep posting.

What are you scultping with? Toxic waste??
That stuff looks crazy :p

But the legs are recognisable as marine legs so far, so you can\'t be too far wrong :)

Good luck

The groin seems too low and big (the armor plates would restrain movement).

The bottom leg plates still seem too thin :

And the elbows don\'t seem to be marked with the same proportions (right upper arm seems to short, and left upper arm is too long).

just what I needed to read about lol:|~
Ok, another update, I fleshed out the legs with a couple more layers and I finished one kneepad, I wanted to see what you guys though before I did the next one.

Not bad - I\'ve included a pic (Only rough)
But then, this could be your own artificer armour if you don\'t want it to be EXACTLY the same as one of the regular Marks.

Shave.jpg

Now that I LOOK at it displayed on here, I think I\'ve said to shave off too much on the left greave - it does need to flare more at the bottom (Marines are into 60\'s fashion)

Maybe give him a bandana and a tai-dye shirt too. lol

Hey it\'s only an opinion - don\'t take it as gospel - in a lot of people\'s opinion the GW marines are hopelessy out of proportion :p

(Gods-among-men who are the same size as regular IG :p)

It\'s YOUR figure, so remember to take all these comments with a pinch of salt - if you WANT your marine to have a beer-belly or a broken nose then give it to him :p
