Hi, welcome to the forums, I\'m sure better painters than me will give you advice, but here\'s some from me.

Firstly as your mini came up, I was quite impressed. As I looked closer, the face is good, but you must thin your paints and this will take away that grainy look to the overall look, the top lip could be a little neater.
Hair, is Ok maybe when highlighting try and get the lighter colour to go only on the raised bits.
The other bits although neat do not look finished.

here\'s a link to painting technique, I like this one a lot

http://www.acrylicosvallejo.com/
after page appears click your language, then model color, then scroll to bottom, for painting figures!!

And a very good start, take your time with each mini. dont rush and learn the highlighting methods. Good Luck:D

If your as old as me probably, it depends on if you can see the mini clearly. Some use one to check the mini up close, but I have not got one YET!!!

A better purchase would be great brushes and a great daylight lamp.:D

use google to search for neomodel then use the translate this page offered by google, It is Cyril\'s site and has great tutorials on it. There are also many articles at this site.
Cyril uses acrylics but others like Hardy use a combination of both.

I highly suggest a lighted magnifying set up. It is invaluable to me for high quality.
Plenty of WIP pictures also help me to see errors only the camera can show you.

Magic wash (one part future floor wax and 3 parts water) used instead of water to thin paints brings a control factor on the grainy look to paint I could not do with out.

Hi Anushavan:
Well as a S.O.B. player I had to look and guess what...................Your colour scheme is very similar to the one I have on my army. :D

As a WIP there is nothing really wrong with this mini. Granted the paint is a \'little\' thick but experience will guide you towards better dilution of the paints. (No I\'m not going to embarrass myself by posting any of my earlier efforts). :)
As to the colours, the Bone base is fine but it does lack a shadow tone. I\'d consider a darker brown wash (Inks if you must) which will strengthen the main colour.

I\'ve got to ask is this intended for a full Tournament Army?
If so I\'d suggest that you reconsider the brown weapons and go for a contrasting colour (Black or Red) to give a better appearance on the table.

As for the face, It\'s fine. SOB faces aren\'t the best feature of these models. Glazing with thin washes wil help to get better definition on faces but as I said the SOB faces on Rank and File aren\'t the best to work at. If you want a serious character face, then the Cannoness or the Repentia Whip Mistress have faces that will benefit from some hard work on glazes and highlights.

I\'d not worry too much about trying to achieve Nano and Cyril\'s levels just yet as they are painters who consistantly are painting to win Golden Deamons (and for commission) and therefore their works are far more intricate in the use of washes.

You\'ve only just returned to the hobby and once you get \"Back up to Speed\" with painting techniques you\'ll find that washes are one of the most invaluable tools for painting.

Welcome to the forums and I\'m looking forward to seeing more of your SOB\'s and other work.

Thanks for all the kind words and invalueble advice. I don\'t think that this will turn out a full tournament army, at least not yet.
The armor is supposed to be desert, so I\'ll probably will refrain from using any bright colors, I was about to go with Olive Drab, as my brother insists that our, yes our, army has a comon sence to it. (Don\'t want to have a bulls eye taget to your helmet, right? It would be as silly as wearing red in a forest!)
lol

Again thanks for the warm welcome (no irony here), I hope that I\'ll update the photos soon, don\'t really have time on my handsfor this sort of thing, if you know what i mean;) Thanks alot to all.

P.S. Is asking you guys to take a look at my rhino, for this same army, pushing it?:D

you\'ll need to upload the picture into an online photo account. i would recommend photobucket and then copy the tag from the pic in your photobucket account into the message.

by the way, you can delete multiple posts by clicking on edit post and then delete this post

hey guys,

i\'m back,

did a little work on the seraphim, deluted the paint as much as possible, think it\'s about to get absured, because i\'m not realy using paint anymore, in a sence i\'m doing glases to smooth out the serface, but the texture is still too strong on the face.

i posted a close up on it you can check it out here, www.coolminiornot.com/131092

it looks horrible in that magnification, but from normal point of view, it\'s fine! so i\'m at a loss here, do i become contempt fith the face and work on eaverything else, since i can\'t do anything about the textures poping out, or do i torture my eyes further to make her look like Mila Jovovich? (think she has potential to for that simularity)

anyway, Mike, the color of the bolt pistol casings is roughly what i had in mind.

thanks for all yoour help, eaveryone.:]

p.s. take a look at my rhino www.coolminiornot.com/130895 and also the walker monstrosity, www.coolminiornot.com/130967 that was done as one of those build and battle competitions on Toronto games day 2004. (scared the hell out of an experianced Necron player, whooped some bloody bottoms out of another player who was brave enough to fight it.
