Hiya,

Here is my entry for the Warhammer monster category at the 2006 UK golden demons. He made the first cut which I was well chuffed with *polishes chufty badge:D*

Sorry about the very poor quality picture. My parents are on holiday with their super makro capabilities camera and I need to wait for them to get back until I can take some semi decent shots.

Theres a lot of detail not visible fron this picture and angle, but hopefully one or two of you may see this and remember the real life fella in the cabinet (or in pieces on the repair table... )

Deep down I know I am not good enough to seriously compete but I really pushed myself with this (theres 17 layers in the skin you know!) and challenged my skills with details like the tartan patch and fleur de lyes pattern on the trews and am really glad I did.

Well thamk you all so much for being arsed to comment. The sheer enthusiasm shown for something that took me absolutley ages to paint and really push my personal skill to achieve has inspired me to get painting and post more mini\'s on here........

Good job on the whole patience thing ;)

Strange how we both had similar ideas when it came to our entries! I am rather jealous of the number of goblins you managed to get finished though! (edit: Its only 1 more than I did, but I think the fact my platform was a bit big makes it look worse...)

It is difficult to really comment on the painting from these photos, and having seen it on the day, I know that they nowhere near do it justice. I think we both suffered from too simple banners too, despite them being really orcy, somehow we needed to get a rennaisance/Raphael/Da Vinci orc image on there... something like Adam the orc (with fig leaves et al)being punched in the face by the ork god Gork for partaking in the forbidden fruit, whilst the serpent laughs in the background.

On a more serious note, I think the model could probably have done with a few more highlights on all the colours. Nothing major, but some very fine bright highlights on the very raised areas of the faces (nose, chin, eyebrows etc) and other sharp edges of cloth, wood etc would have really made it pop.

I really like this model and think you\'ve done a bloody good job of bringing it too life! I\'m looking forward to seeing some proper photos of him!

Thanks for the replies guys, and sorry for the outburst, it just annoys me that some one once started a thread about going for a poo a while back and that their toilet habits got more attention than one of my best minis!

Should have better pictures up sometime next week and also add him to the gallery for votes- but thanks again for the comments Lou W.

@ Avicenna- they are similar ideas, and you have no idea how gutted I was when I saw how superb and that more original your giant is on the day- please take this a a very high compliment as intended! The painting was top notch and the pirate gobbo theme fitted so well with the base and gave a narrative.

Theres another 3 goblins squeezed on that are not visible in the picture, one sitting on the halfling sack tickling the hobbit foot with a feather and giggling, one squished on the slate by the smashed fence panel and another swinging from the cow\'s tail sticking two fingers up at his unfortunate squished \'mate\'. I was intending to add another holding onto the banner pole for dear life but time restrictions had other ideas.

I am still on a huge learning curve with my painting, and struggle to notice when that extra level of highlight is required. Cheers for pointing this out, that \'pop\' is something to work towards in the future.

Looks fantastic - I\'ve got a half base-coated giant sitting in a draw waiting for inspiration and enough spare time to do anything with it. Can\'t wait to see more pics, especially some close ups of the \"extras\". It\'s these touches that really bring the model to life.

BTW do you have a link to that toilet discussion thread, it sounds really cool lol
