Both great! I love the troll, but agree more contrast may have helped as the skin and armour have very similar tones (although I think I recall some trolls like this in ROTK).

The nurgle lord, again, cracking paintjob! I don\'t like the head, but thats down to the sculpt, not the paint job, and also personal preference- know people who love it.

Nice work!

very cool :D id tried last year but didnt get in the finalls :(. basiccly (i think) do some more contrast and shadows also read this-http://www.coolminiornot.com/article/aid/86 i finds it helps. the nurgle guys really cool but maybe (to give him a cold look) mix in a tiny bit of ice blue into all the paints so he looks \"frosty\", or you could (to give him a warm look) put in a tiny bit of purple or orange in all the paints (i once saw some guy do this in wd and it looked ok on his shaggoth).but still very nice models.

p.s-you could also get a sculpted model on commision ( i think scibor does some very nice sculpts ;)) then just paint it ( im not sure though if you can do that in the rules???)

it only needs a little tweek with the shadows and some of the highlights mate, that will make it \"pop\" out so to speak.

very nice work with a very natural feel to it.
try adding a little blue into the darkest shaded areas, this will help add a natural depth as well.

hope it helps.:)

Very nice models. The troll just needs a little adjustment in hue to distinguish armour from skin. There probably were trolls like that in RotK but of course they move with the light playing differently on the two areas.

@Catman. I did something like that (putting a colour into the mixes with almost all others) in a painting I did at university. It tied the areas together whilst still having different hues in the clothing, grass, stone etc.

I like both pieces ..The Troll is cool and very natural looking..what GP said about maybe varying the shades of the weathering...
Also a LOTR large models category would be nice at UK GD there\'s enough of em now..
The nurgle Termy is cool as well a bit more work on the base and a little more time on the model would help but still solid work and final cut in 2 very strong categories ain\'t a bad result really....

I\'m constantly impressed by the quality of stuff you bang out in the speed you do ..as you mentioned in your blurb on the pieces patience and just taking your time on some things can make a big difference and is so hard to get used to.. keep em coming though....

Wow, this is a tough crowd. I know he\'s not nmm or OSL, but 7.8 for the troll? It\'s discouraging.

Don\'t worry about it, remember to get over 8 you have to have people who will class it a 9, so 7.8 is actually pretty good considering the quality of paint jobs needed to score a 9 now a days.

although I understand the feeling, I initially felt the same way when my stuff feel below the 8 mark.

The score on the troll is well out in my opinion! I think that what people are missing is the fact that in real life the metallics will look a lot more different to the skin due to the metallic flecks... I really like the Troll, and how real it looks - certainly one I\'d like to see in the flesh so to speak. the only think that lets it down is the base - with a more detailed and structured base it could score a lot higher. But it could also stop it working as a gaming piece.

Don\'t be discouraged - CMON can be a tough bunch sometimes, but its all meant with affection.

I really like it to be honest :) But also, the quality of the minis on this site is pretty unbelievable and has increased exponentially over the last few years so what might have scored a 9 3 years ago may only score a 7.9 now!

Brushlicker and Freak!
What he said.

Also LOTR stuff often scores less than technically comparable 40k or warhammer minis.

Any which way, its a great job.
