That is great Peter! Too bad you didn\'t win, I can only assume the winners were flat out amazing, because this is definatly trophy quality to me.

Congrats.

Just commented on the pics. Again, it\'s the problem with a first past the post competition that work like this doesn\'t get recognised.

I keep looking at it to find things that might improve it, but I\'m struggling!!!!!
The only thing might be the blue/white trails from the marine\'s jetpack. Doesn\'t look quite right.

Shame it\'s not possible to get feedback from the judges.

It\'s a great piece, and deserved to be recognised IMHO.

great work!
i\'ll only comment on the things i didnt like since you asked for critique so be sure i like everything very much that i wont mention here ;)
the osl on the glassbottle on the back of the orc is definately a nono, the gap from yellow/red to green is way to harsh, especially on a (partly) see through liquid, it shouldnt be like that.
also the arm with the plasma pistol is to static, thats imho one of the most common mistakes in conversting miniatures, the straight shooting arm looks like its straight shooting and not like its raised up in the air, esp, with that gun in the hand
furthermore i think its really strange that the flamy part of the orc jetpack has the same texture than the steam itself

as for the rest: flawless, the head of the marine rocks, and so does the whole converison :)

A really cool concept, Peter, and well executed, too. Too bad you didn\'t get more recognition for it. There\'s no accounting for the tastes of judgs though.

Let\'s see. Ways to improve it that haven\'t already been mentioned ??? ??? That\'s a tough one. Perhaps, next time you could have a naked lady hold it for your photos :D

I remember seeing this in the display case at GD along with the other entries and you could see why they said this was the hardest category on the day with up to 9 if not more contenders for the gold on its own.

Nice work Peter and I have been and voted :D

A very well executed piece. I cannot add anymore that has not already been stated. Congrats on making the cut however, that is an accomplishment in its own right.

Beautiful. How did this not place? There must have just been more amazing pieces. I think the idea is very good, and the metal plate \"Casualty of Waaaargh\" is very creative. Nice OSL.

I think the arms are ok. Imagine it as a snapshot.

Great idea and convertion and very nice painting. Got some flaws though as mentioned. I didn\'t see this up close at the GD, but it got to have been one of my favourite dual entrys

Right, a 10 for the idea alone, even if the execution isn\'t perfect.
Don\'t think the right arm looks static though. The orc is puhing his arm upwards and he\'s wearing armour which isn\'t too flexible in itself really, so he really doesn\'t have that much room to put his arm anywhere else. So, as I see this: The orc will win. ;)

This is great, very original scene and excellent painting, as many have said it deserved to place, or at least get a special mention or something :)

Granddad!
Excellent piece Peter, left a comment on the pic.
As mentioned the Orks bottle, I think the orange is too bright, maybe a V.V.Very light green glaze (12:1) would work. The OSL in his trousers looks spot on tho.
To my eyes the smoke isn\'t \"smokey/puffy\" enough, maybe some small beads embedded in the putty would help,
There are some good pics over at NASA

so they are giving out pins this year? That\'s typical, you watch, they\'ll go back to bits of paper next year lol
