hi all, thought id share. she was a tough project, a lot smaller than i expected, but i think i did a good job.

i spent a good amoutn of time on her for such a small piece; it was the first time i have ever used a magnifying glass to paint (face only). one of my favorite parts is the hair. there isnt any info out there on how to paint a bleach blonde so i played around with the idea until it looked right. i think ive got the sheer thing down, not bad for my second attempt - it looks like a sweaty tee. i threw in some classic zombie hunter stuff so set the scene - to me it has a good story type feel to it. enjoy.

i think im going to enter her in to the mcgobbo comp, so all advice for improvements is welcomed.

The hair is well done.
I like the details like the quality on the chainsaw and the paisleys on the bandana.
Only problem is I can\'t figure why her shirt would be wet.
Oh, for advice I would just say use a very thin glaze to smooth out the skin transitions on her belly, and take the pink off the upper lip - looks like she smeared strawberry icecream.

Maybe she was sweating, because she flooded the gas on the chainsaw, and forgot to pull out the choke. Them pull starts are a bitch!

The Newspaper is a great little addition.

Nice. Like the wet Tshirt. The base is great as well. The stomach needs to be blended better but overall a great mini. Did the vote thing.

the hair is great, maybe you could post a how to do it:idea: i like the texture on the jeans and the wear but would agree about the lips and she has massive.... navel:)

thanks!

great reply guys - i appreciate the feedback.
renovations im planning include:
1) thin wash on the stomach (that area gave me some nasty problems) - ill also try to make the navel seem a bit smaller.
2) remove the pink from the upper lip. will that make it look like she has no upper lip? i have problems with lips (while painting :p) and id love some advice on how to do them -esp light toned lips (i dont think the lipstick look would work here).

supervike hit the nail on the head - its supposed to be a sweaty tee.

menace, next time i find a mini where it would be appropriate i will put somthing together - i was thinking that the site needs more articles on hair.....

I really like the Jeans! very realistic. perhaps the shading on the skin is a little \"chalky\" though.
The sheer effect is also good....there is another model with a purple sheer dress you might want to look at...but I forgot the image code.. sorry

She\'s very well done. The hair is spot on, the base is absolutely perfect, and the sheer effect is very believable. But you may have to drop the sweaty tee explanation and just say she was strolling in the rain. As a woman, and I\'m sure you all will appreciate this gem of information, when we sweat profusely (which we almost -never- do, of course), the sweat tends to run between our breasts and down our stomach...it doesn\'t conveniently collect of the top, ends, sides of our breasts. I am quite aware that that is reality, and minis are not reality, but now you know. You can thank me later. :D

Personally I think she was cutting up zombies on a campus and had to take one out in the now very messy jocks locker room and in doing so, she cut through a pipe that shot water all over the place, soaking her shirt pretty good.

Heh.

Love this one - don\'t like the actual base (the slotta) and would have prefered to see it on a round premium (you know, the bevelled ones like PP, etc) but other than that, absolutely great piece. Newspaer is tops!

Alright, since when did we start needing a logical reason for a woman to be wearing a wet t-shirt ???;) :DTHis IS fantasy, you know
If we\'re going to start in with that sort of thing, we\'ll get back into the long-dead topic of howw the heck to Fiannas keep heir boobs inside those silly, inverted steel bras they wear :)

Nice work, funnymouth. The sheer effect is handled quite convincingly.

Check wikkipedia, today\'s featured article is on....Katie Holmes! Wow, no one cares, see? No one really cares, so who cares about how her t-shirt got wet, if we get even more into that, why not get into how space marine power armor was invented and how the emporer is still alive after living from the 1950\'s to the year 40,000! READ THE CODEX! lol, my rants are outrageously stupid and nonsensical!

. ill keep that in mind next time....:D

i was thinking it was one of those really skimpy tees that girls wear - that become sheer at the slightest hint of moisture. :]

@generulpoleaxe: thanks! id like to think im improving too. i have learned sooo much from everyone here - and i still have a lot to work on. every few minis ill make sure to paint up a dirty woman ;).

@Frustrated Father: that story is neat! i take it as a great compliment too - it means ive created a story like atmosphere to the mini ( a very important component of art IMHO). i like the idea about the premium base - perhaps ill look in to it when i do my revisions, though a cut out and transfer could be tough. i dont know if i mentioned it but i think im going to enter this in to the mcgobbo comp, and its touches like that that will help out a lot.

@RedSevenBlue: skin is tough for me too, it takes a subtle touch and mistakes stand out like a sore thumb because we look at skin all the time. and what exactly was that rant about.....???

Am I the only one that has already experienced this?

Fat men in a gym sweat the same way, it\'s just not as appealing to look at.

Yes indeed that could be a good topic of a good rant in and of itself. (Excessive use of anti-persperant might have an impact on the adjacent lymphonic glands and may increase chances of breast cancer, but the popular culture demands the ladies always be dry.) In general this is true for both genders. Upper sweat glands are located on the throat (those are the same folicles that produce beard hair on the men) and under the armpits (which also produces hair in both genders although not always appreciated by the ladies). Breasts themselves don\'t sweat.

So the sweat should come from the neck area be seen mostly on the upper part of the T-shirt, disappear in the part of the T-shirt suspended in mid air by the pair of breasts and reappear at the bottom of the T-shirt in direct proportion to surface touching. There would also be a \"plume\" that extended from the upper part that would be related to the natural wick action of the cotton to the adjacent wet area.
