You can find it here

Now then, I really tried to make this one with a certain mindset. Use everything I have learned of this site and use it for the greater good. Also to show myself I\'ve actually improved.

I tried layering again, this time with the tips I got since my last adventure with the Devourer Tyrant. It\'s still a bit crude, but I\'m getting the hang of it now I guess.
I also took several tips for shooting pictures and together with my brother\'s smashing new Camera, made for a decent one I guess.

So did I improve? Any suggestions to add? Go ahead, please :)

I think you need more highlighting and also some differenciation between the brown areas. On the pic it all looks like \'red stripe, blue stripe, brown blob, rinse, repeat\'.
I sound harsh, but I don\'t mean it like that, ok, so don\'t come at me with that X-acto ;) - I\'m better at picking out bad things than good ones, so I\'ll leave it to the others.

4 1 U R welcome :)
It\'s better to concentrate on fixing the bad stuff than messing up the good. So pointing out the bad stuff is fine by me.

I\'m not a bad loser, a good one in fact, since I\'ve lost about every game I\'ve played this year, :)

Lookin\' good!

Hey Tuubje, looks like you had a good afternoon of painting. I love what you\'ve done so far and as U4 says, if you can add another couple of layers of highlights you\'ll have him cracked :D

I like the contrast between the red and blue - the colours are quite strong at the moment, but with the aforementioned highlights added, I think they will work nicely.

IMO you have improved a lot - the layers you are starting to use are working really well - like on his red sash at the front.

Keep up the good work Tuubje! :D

I love the colors! The highlighting doesn\'t blend in as well as you might like. Try laying down that highlight a little at a time with very thin paint, like maybe 6-7 layers and it will blend that line a bit. The other comment I\'d make is, just like I fight all the time, he\'s kind of fuzzy looking. What I mean by that is there could be more differentiation between some of the areas to make him look sharper. Maybe just a touch more lining in to break those areas from each other.

Please take the comments as intended, helpful. I love the mini and am just good at identifying the things I am struggling with as well!

Ofcourse I take the comments as helpful, even the blunt ones. If I\'d hate comments I wouldn\'t have posted the mini :)

Anyway thanks for the advice I\'ll try more layers, but as I\'ve said, I get the concept (although crudely), I just need to practice some more and yeah, Rackham mini\'s are difficult and full of detail, but I like \'em :D

i think his face would work better if a brown wash was used instead ofi the black one for outlining things but maybe the detail shows up better in person with black, also the red cloth on his stomach seems to be highlighted in reverse witht he valleys in the cloth being lighter than the hills so it kinda looks wierd in that respect. cool mini and solid detail, maybe a little lighter drybrushing to his chest wood bring out that wood like texture.

I think its looking good.
For your layering, as mentioned thin the paint a little, you can get a more subtle highlight using the same colour if its thin. Basically you do your layering in the colour, then do a line in the same colour over the top, but over a smaller area, giving a stronger highlight to the 2nd area.

You can keep doing this as many times as you like, getting smaller as you go and try lightening the colour a little every couple of steps, this gives an effect very close to wet blending if done carefully.

For you I would suggest starting with just a few layers, you should get the hang pretty quickly and you can start adding more layers as you get the hang of it.
