as far as I know sigvald is some kind of decadent aristocrat.
I would think some kind of manieristic decoration would be fitting for his cloak. Maybe a strip of grotesk masks like in Michelangelos \"New sacristy\" in San Lorenzo?
It would clearly be more unique than some slaanesh image.

This is extremely impressive, I´m slowly turning into a real fan of yours; the model is good in itself, quite an unusual appearence for a chaos character!
The NMM gold is absolutely great, and so is the face, the expression on it is just amazing.

Can´t wait so see it progress further, your speed of painting is beyound anything I have ever achieved, with my quality being far inferior to yours anyway.

Cheers folks! :)

Got the first update for today. I went with some traditional Slaanesh designs for the freehand, I couldn\'t think of anything else!

Would love some input on what I have done so far. I think that the front part of the cape needs something, maybe some kind of simple pattern along the edges. Any ideas?

Also, I finally bought a second lamp! You may have noticed the pictures are a bit better. I\'m still working on my setup. Photography has never been one of my strong points. lol

For some reason the hair came out over-contrasted. My camera has a bad habit of exaggerating oranges. It should look closer to the previous pictures.

And I need to hit this guy with some DullCote! It\'s a little shiny here and there...

Thanks again,

that\'s looking sweet matt
for the front, how about just a simple double gold line running around the edge
ll

*edit* oh yeah, that was the other thing, a light tent, the difference is worth it. You can make one but for the time and effort you might as well buy it

I like that double-line idea. I think I\'ll snag that :D Thanks!

A light tent would be nice. I\'ll have to look around for one! I\'m all for convenience, so if I don\'t have to make one I\'ll gladly pay a buck or two more and pick one up online. :)

it also give you the option of putting a different colored \"lining\" in the cape

I got mine from ebay, a 50cm one, there\'s plenty of room in it

light-tent-003.jpg

the ply frame around it holds 4 tubes, 2 on top and 1 either side from one of these

they stay cool, so it\'s safe to leave them on for long periods

Liking the freehand pattern on the cloak, this is gona be a sweet looking model when finished, any plans on the base yet?

Thanks guys :)

Cheers for the input on the light tent. Used to have one at the old shop I worked at, but that was a couple years ago. Must get one for myself!

Not too sure about the base yet. DaN suggested lava, so I\'m going to do something like that. I\'m thinking about something along the lines of Chaos Wastes, maybe have him standing on some cracked stone tile from some sort of temple remains, and have a small spot of lava coming up from a chasm.

Since I stayed up all night, I ended up taking a nap this afternoon, and then sat in front of the TV for a couple hours. I haven\'t done that in a long time! Very relaxing. But, that meant that I couldn\'t get much more done on Sigvald.

Anyhoo, I did the double-line trim on the cloak, and then I started the legs. Did a little bit of the tabard reflection in there, as well as some bright orange reflections from the lava. I figure it will be coming from his right.

Any ideas for the tabard freehand? I\'m thinking just a double-line trim on the front, nothing too fancy. Thoughts?

Thanks again everyone!

Sorry for the double post, but I just read Sigvald\'s history again and got a good basing idea:

\"The ground reshapes itself to let Sigvald pass, and his feet float an inch above the world\'s surface...\"

That got me thinking. I like the idea of a ruined Chaos temple and some lava. Maybe I could make some of the stone tiles/rubble below him lifting up/joining to form a path in front of him.

Thoughts??

Thanks again guys :)

That does sound like it\'d be cool to have the ground reshaping beneath him. If you go with that concept, you should put \"ripples\" in the earth. Perhaps do a normal ground base, but put some dyed water effects over it to create this \'fission-ed\' look? I can see it in my head, but it\'s hard to explain.

Great NMM so far!

I\'m sure the lava is probably the one that makes the most sense, and would be the easiest to, er, not explain. If there was some way to get the concept across without lava, say with earth or rocks in water, I think it would work better with the colors in the figure.

Another suggestion would be to try to have the reverse effect behind him.

You might also think that directly underneath, make it appear like a smooth brick path, while everything else that is forming is less uniform. Trying to get the effect of chaos giving way to uniform perfection under foot.

Well the problem is that I need to have something red/orange on his right, as I have reflected all that red in the gold breastplate. So I want to have a touch of lava there, that seems the most logical to me at least :)

Exactly what I was imagining. :D

Oh what burden we mini painters face. So many ideas running in our heads and only so much room on a 28mm figure to project it.

For his left side you could have a \"spew\" of fire coming up as the earth cracks considering it\'s shifting under magics?

I like how he is looking, the double line trim on the inside of the cloak turned out nice. I think the best bet for his base would be a lava effect.

keep it up, i cant wait to see him finished
